Hi - just saw your button on another blog and did a double take. My second son, also named Cohen :), was given a fatal diagnosis at our 20 week ultrasound and told there was no chance he would ever live after birth. We will celebrate his 2 year birthday this coming Friday!! Our God can do BIG things!! I am praying for your sweet boy...for complete healing and for wisdom for the doctors to help him when he is born if needed. Praying for your heart as you continue this journey! Thank you for sharing with us and allowing us to come along side you in prayer.

I can imagine your work event was extremely difficult & as far as talking to people .. you can only do what you're comfortable with, so I think you did the right thing. For me, when I was pregnant with Sadie, talking about her helped. I got lots of encouragement from anyone that I told her story too.

God wants me to spread the word that He is still in the miracle buisness. We were told when my son was born that he had a "lousy heart" and there was nothing that could be done and he was given an expiration date od 6 months. He lived as a hospice patient for 15 months and God granted us a miracle that his heart had drastically improved. I am happy to say he will be 2 (!) in April!!! We just found out the cause of his heart condition is from a rare disease called Barth syndrome, and he has other issues, being that this isn't just affecting the heart, but is a multi sensory disease affecting every cell in his body. However, i am counting my blessings that he isn't even supposed to be alive and one thing I have learned is not to take my children or any loved ones for granted, for we do not know when God will call us home. I just thought you could use some encouraging words and know you are not alone.

I am just getting caught up on what's been going on with you. I wanted to let you know that you guys are going to be in my prayers.

I also wanted to let you know about my sister and my nephew. She had a baby with hypoplastic left heart syndrom which is a huge heart birth defect -- many defects -- one side of the heart basically doesn't develop at all and other vein and artery issues

. She didn't know about it until she had her baby and he started turning blue a few hours after birth. The news they gave her was very grim and he wasn't given much hope. My sister and her husband prayed about it and decided to go ahead with open heart surgery when he was 3 days old. To make a long story short, he is now almost 12 and doing GREAT. He had to have 3 open heart surgeries to help correct some of the abnormalities, but they thought he would have brain damage and all sorts of other problems as a result of the surgeries and he is the smartest boy I have ever met. He plays, he bikes, swims, does everything a normal boy could do. I hope this helps you.

Just wanted to let you know that often doctors give you the worst case scenario. That's what they did with my sister. I will keep you in my prayers.

I obviously don't know you, but I have been praying for you. I want you to know that God does work miracles, and sometimes you don't know it until after the fact. At 35weeks pregnant - after a perfect pregnancy - I had a placental abruption. Without going into a lot of detail about placental abruption itself, it is the leading cause of death among full term infants and is also life threatening for the mother. More often than not those babies that do survive are severely brain damaged. Because it is so uncommon (less than a 1% chance it will happen in a healthy pregnancy) I knew nothing about it. My son who was five weeks early and weighed only 4 lbs 13 oz. was perfectly healthy. He spent less than 48 hours in the NICU, and his pediatrician says he is a miracle baby because he should have brain damage at the very least. Yet, he has no developmental delays. I in no means want to minimize what is happening to you, nor do I wish you to think that it is in any way similiar, but I just want to encourage you. Throughout my pregnancy I felt the need to pray in particular for my baby to be very strong and healthy, and he was and is. Continue to pray for Cohen strength and health with all your might. Sorry for such a long post but know there are many people out there praying for you and thinking of you.

I think not telling them was a good choice! All you need is HOPE! You never know what they might say--you do not need any negative comments :)
I am still praying for you and Cohen and your family! Keep your head high! God is wonderful and like that wonderful Psalm says, give thanks for you, your baby, and your husband are wonderfully made :)
