So, I was recently introduced to, what I think, is an amazing avenue to reach a doctor and reach them quickly. Keep reading because you get to try it out for free 🙂
Amwell allows you to reach a doctor, 24 hours a day, from your phone, computer or tablet. It’s the nation’s largest telehealth company, connecting users with board-certified, licensed doctors, dieticians and psychologists for immediate and live, online visits.
I can’t even tell you how I wish this was around when Knox & Sloane were bitty babies. It wasn’t always the easiest getting them to the doctor, especially if one wasn’t feeling well.
I’m not sure the process of doctor’s to become part of Amwell, but if possible, I think they should all join in.
I will tell you, when Knox & Sloane were babies, I learned (maybe after quite a few visits to the doctor) that we did not actually need to go to see the doctor every time. I was new at the whole mom thing, so I was quite certain we should go at the first sign of anything. Now, I know I can typically call first and maybe get in touch with a nurse to see if we should, in fact, actually visit the doctor. Which, don’t get me wrong, sometimes I do believe it’s very necessary to be seen for an exam.
Which brings me to our “visit” with Amwell. When I first heard about the service, we didn’t actually have any sickies. However, a few days ago, Knox started with a cough and it got worse over about a 24 hour period. With our crazy weather, I wasn’t really sure if it was allergies or what was going on. I’ve read around four years old, you might start determining allergies, asthma, etc. So, I went online to Amwell.com and was able to speak to a Doctor within minutes. Not only could I speak to the Doctor, but it was face-to-face. She told me a few things to try to determine maybe what was causing the cough, since it wasn’t coming with any cold symptoms: fever, snot etc. Granted, I knew what I would do, but sometimes it’s nice to have a professionals opinion 😉 She told me to try the things we talked about or I did have the option to bring him in for an exam.
This, of course, isn’t Knox, but it gives you an idea of how it can work easily from your phone 🙂
Our call lasted about 5 minutes. I could see the Doctor; I could hear the Doctor and vice versa. I, personally, loved it.
Amwell also obtained our insurance information and pharmacy of choice.
It was convenient, accessible, and quick! It also gives a peace of mind versus often giving a self diagnoses. And, because I should be a professional when it comes to medical insurance, this service is very cost efficient. The average cost for an appointment with a physician is $49 on Amwell.
The site was extremely user friendly as for directions, patient information, doctor information and so forth. I was talking to a Doctor within just a few minutes of getting on the site. There are all different types of options as to who you can speak with. Keep in mind, the service is 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Amwell is available now in 46 states. I also have a code for you all so that you can do your first visit for FREE 🙂 You can use the code: “BEWELL8” for payment 🙂
