Brent and I have been watching American Idol for a long time. There was a season or two that we couldn’t keep up with because we had a lot going on, but now we’re back in the swing of things.
We’ve tried to make a point to keep up with it the past few years. Personally, I love the tryouts. I think they are too funny! I totally give people props to those who go and try out because I could never do it. I would just freeze up.
I’ve been watching American Idol since it started! I’m sure many of you out there can say the same, and if not, let me tell you, you’re missing out!
It’s weird to think how long it’s been on and how each season and each winner take me back to a certain season in life that I can remember so well. I remember having people crowded in my dorm room watching and squealing. Imagine 20 girls in a 13’x13′ foot room, haha! Kelly Clarkson won that year, so if you can only imagine everyone singing along….and crying 🙂
I think American Idol brings so much community. I think from the very beginning of the season, even the interaction between the people trying out shows just how much Idol means to them. The people that move forward create bonds. They hug and they cry. Ryan becomes their best friend. Now, if you watch, you totally understand everything I’m talking about right now 🙂
With Carrie Underwood being from Oklahoma, you can only imagine the entire state in which I live rooting her on. We would gather at someone’s house and occasionally meet at a restaurant as almost all of them here would have it on TVs and some even had their own watch parties.
Well, now with kiddos, it’s definitely more common to entertain at home. I think watching IDOL is the perfect time to have friends over and even friends that have kiddos. I love hosting and finding fun themed ideas to prepare!
IDOL is in the 14th season right now and I’ve definitely been planning a watch party to happen sometime this season! You’ve not missed much yet, so definitely start tuning in now. It comes on Wednesdays & Thursdays, at 8/7c on FOX.
So many fun watch party things out there!
And food, that’s always a hit! I like finger foods and they tend to be pretty easy to prepare and they usually make for an easier cleanup!
Do you have watch parties?? I’d love to see your ideas and hear your thoughts! Leave a comment to win a $100 VISA GIFT CARD!
