Yesterday, Sloane and I were talking about their birthday coming up. She keeps telling me it’s coming now. She knows it’s in August, but we’ve not quite learned the order of our months.
I’ve been explaining they will be three years old and why.
She asked me when Knox’s birthday was and of course I told her it was the same day as her birthday. It’s one of those things she knows her and Knox were in my belly at the same time, but she doesn’t truly understand it all.
I reminded her that Knox had the same birthday because they were in my belly at the same time and they were twins. I know at this age you can sometimes say something and they will remember it forever, but sometimes it takes lots of conversations to actually understand.
She replied, “It means sharing!”
Part of me wanted to bust out laughing and part of me melted.
I immediately told her that was very good because it is important to share. I don’t ever remember using the words “share” and “twin” in the same sentence, though I do say both quite a bit 😉 I reminded her what being a twin meant and told her I was proud of her for being a good sharer lately. It was one of those moments were you definitely have some affirmation that you are doing something right as a parent. Especially when the two, 2 1/2 year old days can be tricky 🙂
We’ve been working on sharing 🙂
I still can’t believe I have twins, haha…
