Thank you all for the emails, texts, etc. We are thanking God the tornado missed us.
The news on the TV and radio started predicting our bad weather last week. I believe I heard things like, it’s coming our way; Oklahoma is really in for it. They were basically saying Sunday and Monday were predicted to have awful weather.
After my cousins’ house and ranch were destroyed last week in Texas, by a tornado, I’ve already been pretty freaked out. Sunday came and there were tornados, but they missed us. They were very close to some friends, but thankfully, missed them as well.
Monday, we woke and it wasn’t raining and the news said we probably wouldn’t have any bad weather until afternoon. I went ahead and took Knox & Sloane to Mother’s Day Out. When I got home, I sent the school director an email just letting her know that if we went under any warnings that I would be coming to pick them up. The weather was normal and I picked them up at 2:30. We got home about 3 and my mom started calling to let me know that I needed to turn the news on. It wasn’t long after and the news was showing tornados touching down about an hour away.
Thankfully, it missed us again. Unfortunately, it didn’t miss many others. It’s devastating the lives that have been taken and the damage that has been done. I couldn’t stop watching the news last night as the search efforts were live. The kids in the school? No. I can’t even handle that. I don’t know the circumstances, but I will say that no school that Knox & Sloane go to will ever keep me from them in a weather situation. Period.
I’m not sure one can every truly be prepared, but it feels so much more real now that happened here, now. I’ve got two small children to protect. I’ve only lived in Oklahoma for six years and this is the worst thing I know of happening.
I’m truly so heartbroken.
Please pray. Please donate. Please give blood. Fund raise. Please just do whatever you can do.
If you haven’t seen the news coverage it’s probably hard to know the depths. I know a lot of it is on National News, so I suspect most people have.
I was thankful when I opened Facebook just now that I saw so many people that had Oklahoma graphics up. I know people will feel the thoughts an prayers.
I have no idea who made any of these or I promise I would give credit. If you did, feel free to comment.
If you know of any fundraisers, feel free to share those.
Brent just texted me and a customer of theirs has an IT guy that lost his 4 month old baby, his wife is in critical condition and they can’t find his 5 year old son that was at school. I’m heartbroken for his family and so many in his situation. It’s so awful.
