……..for you is a learning process 🙂
When Knox & Sloane were still in my tummy I was already wondering what I would do about upset tummies, diaper rashes, colds, and well, the whole nine yards! My mind was constantly racing.
Once they were born, I would occasionally anticipate the arrival of these unfortunate events. Silly, right? I tried to be prepared, though. My goal was to use products that were as natural as they could be.
Once the babies were a few weeks old, I started using Seventh Generation wipes. I knew pretty quickly that I liked them. We decided what diapers worked best and what wipes worked best. While I was pregnant, those two things seemed to be things I was also curious about asking other moms. However, it was definitely something that I later learned might vary from baby to baby.
I often wondered if it was our combination of diapers and wipes, but Knox & Sloane never really had diaper rash all too much when they were young. The older they got, it was always, again, something I expected. I remember our nieces and nephews having TERRIBLE diaper rash. I crossed my fingers, and somehow, we’ve not seen too many painful booties.
I’ve come to realize two things: Knox & Sloane haven’t had consistent gluten in six months and I use Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. My mother was actually the one that told me about Boudreaux’s; seems like Mom always knew best! Sloane had gluten for about two months once I stopped nursing, before she started almond milk. Knox had gluten in a small amount from the time he was two months old until a year. We supplemented formula with breast milk and the formula has gluten. I like the All Natural Boudreaux’s Butt Paste because well, I like natural products for my tots.
Anyways, for the past six months, the only times they’ve had actual “diaper rash,” has been when they were on antibiotics for ear infections. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve definitely had bumps pop up here and there. I have noticed that if they eat a lot of blueberries in one day, they definitely have to be immediately changed or they will get irritation. I know I’ve had a few diapers that I’ve changed where they seemed to be burned from acid in certain foods. NOT pleasant! Thankfully, I apply the paste and it doesn’t last long.
As soon as I notice any redness or spots, I put the Boudreaux’s on and within one or two diaper changes, it really clears up. When on the medication, I also add in probiotics to their food to help ease their tummies.
I don’t know if it’s pure luck or if it’s the combination of what we are using just works, but I’m thankful! I think catching it right when you see the smallest things probably helps. The Boudreaux’s is easy to put on and easy to wash off. The smell isn’t potent at all! I also know that you can use Boudreaux’s Butt Paste as a prevention method. I have a few friends that do this and it seems to work well.
I actually wrote this before Knox had a reaction to antibiotics. I’ve now learned if that happens, and it’s on the bottom, diaper rash cream won’t work because it’s not a diaper rash. You need to consult your doctor ASAP. It’s more of a salad red, blistery rash. If anything else arises, I’ll still be giving butt paste a go!
Find out what works for you…and catch it before it starts!
