Becoming a new mom means starting a new guessing game. You do learn things about your baby pretty quickly, but of course it does take a little bit of time, and even still, there are going to be occasions where you think you know and you just don't.
It can be fun guessing, but it can be stressful if you feel like your baby is in discomfort. Try not to stress, though. You will figure it out and don't be afraid to seek advice.
Babies are innocent in so many ways. Their bodies are developing as are their brains. Their tummies are just learning to process things and like anything else, it takes time. Since I nursed Knox & Sloane I immediately wondered if there was anything that I shouldn't eat. Their pediatrician said there really shouldn't be anything that I should completely eliminate from the get-go. He said try it all and try it more than once. There is no way to really know if their tummies are going to get upset from a food unless they consume it more than one time and it makes them upset.
He told me it was kind of the same for babies on formula as well. Some good digest certain forumlas better than other. He said it may also take a little time for their bodies to learn.
The doctor also said that eating a variety of foods and spices did give the baby that variety, which was also a good thing.
I got to the point where I could tell if Knox & Sloane had gas. I could tell by their little sounds. We would rub their little bellies, use gas drops & motion their legs in a bicycle-like motion. St. Joseph Infants’ Gas Relief drops work quickly to break down gas bubbles that cause discomfort. These drops are safe to use at every feeding, and are free of any dyes, alcohol or saccharin. These things did seem to help. I could never really pinpoint anything I was eating to actually be giving them gas. I also noticed with Knox & Sloane that their gas didn't last long. Luckily, they did poop not long after most meals.
I remember texting and tweeting to ask other nursing moms what foods I should avoid and the truth is, all babies are different. Of course some babies react the same to certain things so I knew some advice would be helpful. I went with just eat what sounds good and eat plenty in order to produce.
So if you are playing a guessing game with your little one's digestion, you can certainly try the St. Joseph drops! If you want to try it out, you can get a $3 coupon right HERE.

My twins were so small and they came home at 4 pounds. I thought the clothes were shrinking, but they were getting bigger at 6 months. One of the twins had gas issues and was always perched on my shoulder as an infant. We gave her Mylicon drops to help break up the bubbles and, of course, held her more, because her demands plus it calmed her.
