Organizing Logins/Passwords/Notes

I recently had the opportunity to start using the Norton password manage software, Identity Safe!

The nice part is, you can now download it for free through October 1st!

The thing I've enjoyed most about the program is managing my passwords and the automatic fill out for forms and such.

I don't know about you, but I always thought it was the greatest idea to have a different password for everything. Why? No clue. Obviously in the long run, it has not turned out to be very easy to remember all those passwords. Actually, they aren't all different, but there are definitely many possibilities.

Therefore, when I'm logging into something, it always takes me more than once, usually more than twice, to enter the right password.

Yes, I do get locked out of my own accounts for this. Quite a pain, really.

I'm sure you've all heard of Norton's Anti-Virus programs before. They've been around a LONG time and keep coming up with ways to keep us safe and now, help us stay a bit organized in the process.

They do all kinds of things FOR YOU, safely!

More special added features...

I like that there is a little icon right at the top of my computer and it shows all my accounts that I want/need logins for. I can also just go up there to launch the site and it takes me right where I need to be...especially when I'm not certain in of the password. This is also known as the "vault" and you can enter all your accounts and passwords up there.

I've jotted down a list of about 15 sites I'm going to enter into my vault so I'm not constantly scrambling to remember their login and password information.

Every time your computer closes, you have to enter your vault password to access this. You can also log out of it at any time.

I want to do some more exploring on the not making feature. I'm constantly starting email drafts to make notes and that ends up being a bit chaotic as well.

Seriously, if you want to keep your passwords organized, safely, and have safe notes, I highly recommend Identity Safe. Download for free right now HERE.

Once you have done that, share a story about a time you forgot, or lost your password, as a comment below. Each response will garner automatic entry into a sweepstakes to win one of five Android Tablets (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 - 10.1-Inch, Wi-Fi) with Norton Mobile Security and Identity Safe installed on the device!

  2. I have such a hard time remembering passwords for the sites that I don't use very often. more than once I've been locked out of my own account or had to start a new account with a different email address- such a pain!!

  3. I have locked myself out of my bank's bill pay system so many times(which requires a phone call to the online banking department to reset) that I think the whole department knows me by name. "yes mrs. Vargas we can take care of that for you, again" I think I need to bake them cookies for christmas this year!

  5. i haev a hard time remembering what sites I even need a password for and when I get to one of my sites, remembering the password is not happening. Plus my husband half the time depends on my to remember his as well. Post kids, my memory has gotten even worse, so this is awesome. Beats having them all written down on a piece of paper, which I have lost as well....

  6. Oh my! At our last house I signed up for the phone/internet providers site with the paper I'd gotten in the mail, thinking I'd be able to change the password from the alphabet soup they sent me. I wasn't, and I didn't think much of it until I needed to sign in for technical support and could not for the life of me come up with a password. It then took a phone call to customer service for a password reset, then ANOTHER call (they wouldn't transfer me) for tech support. So glad not to be with them anymore! LOL It's hard enough to remember passwords I set up, let alone nice secure AZDG5623dYuZ type passwords.

  8. I have an Excel spreadsheet that I use to keep up to date, but really don't. I get locked out of my student loan payment site all of the time, I don't know why I can't remember that password. The worst thing that happened was getting locked out of my teacher account for a whole day, so I had no access to my Promethean Board lessons or anything else. I had to lecture all day to those poor kiddoes! I am so happy that technology has come into our teaching world, now only if I can remember the password, LOL.

  11. I read the other comments and I definitely empathize with others. I forget my passwords and often have to have them re-sent to me. The worst times are when they lock you out of your own account! Though, I do like the extra safety. :)

The worst story is changing my password to find out within the week that it was hacked! And the new password was super difficult to figure out. So I thought!

  12. The worst for me is forgetting my bank passwords. I change them frequently for obvious reasons, and consequently get locked out of my accounts quite often. Thanks for the chance to win! :)

  15. The amount of times I've forgotten a password and been locked out of an account is quite possibly in the hundreds. For cereal. Ha!

The worst time was for my University Blackboard/Email Login (for security reasons they require you change your password every 6 weeks...which was a major pain in the bum as there are only so many numbers you can add to the end before you're in the thousands haha). I had my final dissertation due (it was mandatory to uploaded all assignments to Blackboard for plagiarism scans etc) and I'd forgotten my latest password/concoction. In the end many failed login attempts meant I got locked out of my account and almost missed my submission date (nearly failed my dissertation). Persistence paid off and after few calls to the University Student Zone my account was reactivated and I was able to submit it. Thank the Lord. Haha!

  31. For a while I did a good deal of traveling with the company I work for. In our round of travel we visited 8 cities in 6 weeks. In each city we spent two days presenting training seminars for our customers. My days usually started about 4am and ended around 11pm. Between training days there was travel days that started anywhere from 4am to 9am and ended between 5pm and 9pm depending on where our destination was and what mode of travel we were using. On our last stop we were landing in Palm Spring, CA around 1:30 in the afternoon, West Coast time. I live in East Coast time. I was fighting jet lag before we ever landed. Traveling was taking it's toll on my thought process and I knew I had a seminar to present at 7pm that night. I needed rest!! When I got checked into my hotel I went through my routine for the evening seminar and started to get ready. I needed to load my email and check to make sure my company laptop was ready for the presentation. I couldn't for the life of my remember my login credentials. I had used it faithfully for all this time but no matter what I tried, nothing worked. I ended up calling our IT department back home and having them reset my network credentials so I could create a new login to be able to access our business network. Times of exhaustion would be a great time to have something like this to fall back on.

I think I have at least 50 different accounts that require passwords and some that I don't log-in often enough, I just have to re-set the passwords every single time. Quite frustrating when you are in a rush trying to get things done. This sounds like the perfect product for me.

Once I opened a credit card to pay for some dental work and of course paid my bill online. From the 1st month to the next I forgot my password and got locked out of my account from too many attempts. I was hit with a late fee due to this and was so upset since I am a nut trying to keep good credit. Luckily I called the company and explained what happened and my late fee was cleared. My grandfather passed away a month ago, and since then my grandmother has locked herself out of her online bank account no less than 10 times (he used to pay the bills and now she has to do it). Each time she locks herself out, she has to call the bank helpline to unlock her, and it takes them an hour to walk her through resetting it. It's crazy.

When I went to enter all my usual sites, I found that there were a couple that I had not saved the passwords for and on top of that, they were older sites I had visited for years and used a totally different email address for as well, I was never able to get back into one of those sites.
