I was honestly so shocked to see so many news people there when we arrived. I knew the hospital sent out a media blast, but I thought maybe one station would want to cover it. There were many.
I think the media being there helped me some. I was able not to think quite so much about the painful memories, but more so about what good the project would do. It was also so nice to hear people agree. Brent did have a harder time than he expected to.
I think this CBS one may be my favorite. It takes a second for the video to load- http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2012/06/07/parents-give-gift-of-music-to-dallas-hospital-as-a-thank-you/

This is one from KVUE, which I believe is out of Austin. I didn't have a link just the video so I put it on my you tube account.
There was a video that we saw on Fox the evening after the donations, but I can't find it online.
Not a huge fan of myself on video, at all, but of course I did it for a good cause :)
Here is the story on the Children's homepage - http://www.childrens.com/giving/why-give/donor-stories/grateful-parents-give-ipods.aspx
I have some sweet pictures to post as well as share the awesome gift the hospital gave us in memory of Cohen.
Disclaimer: because I did receive a rude comment.
** I did mention my blog, to the news reporters, and how we have so graciously received donations from many generous people and fundraisers. They used the content they had from video and of course, they didn't use everything I said nor quoted me in written stories for everything. I wish they would have mentioned it in some form or fashion because as I've mentioned many of times, we are SO SO thankful. About of the iPod Touches were paid for from donations.
Have a good day :)

That is awesome, Megan!

ReplyDeleteI read your blog daily and am a huge fan of your sweet family....this is from my local news station in Austin! It made it even more special...you are such a wonderful woman..and very inspirational!! XOOX
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these videos! It is clear that you guys are having a huge impact. What a great way to honor Cohen!
ReplyDeleteamazing Megan. made me cry!! completely in awe of you and brent!
ReplyDeleteSo precious! I had tears in my eyes watching the video-what a creative and wonderful way to honor Cohen's life! You and Brent should be so proud of the way you parent his legacy now and of your sweet twins.
ReplyDeleteI watched all of them. So awesome :)
ReplyDeletewhat a precious gift! So very generous of you! And an amazing way to honor Cohen.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome gift to remember Cohen with...I was a nurse in the NICU for 20+ years and I know how much those nurses and babies will love this!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet thing! You guys are huge blessing to all of those families. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful idea - you've really taken a tough situation and made good of it. Y'all are such an inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteThose are the sweetest news pieces. I totally agree with music helping babies, Harper was in the NICU for 6 1/2 weeks and we played music in her islet and the nurses noticed how her vitals stayed so steady and she would rarely brady when her music was on.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a wonderful gift you have given those families. I know Cohen is smiling down on his family with such pride!
'Mama2Kayden'...if you could email me, that would be great. I would really love to send your money back to you. I'm sorry when I spoke to the reporters about receiving donations, the cameras were not rolling. We did talk about it. We talked about a lot, and thankfully, they didn't put us on camera for all of the conversations. It was though at times.
ReplyDeleteAs for what we told the news reports AND what I have blogged previously... we paid for about half of the iPods with donations...a little less, if you want numbers. I have also been very open that we did save money to buy them all ourselves, but people reached out and WANTED and OFFERED to take part. Instead, with the money we saved, we have and are donating that money to other CHD foundations.
I have put a disclaimer on this post...although in my heart, I feel you may be the only one that thinks this.
We have and will only do things to honor Cohen.
I'm always completely honest on my blog and everyone who 'knows' me...knows that.
Thank you.
What a great news clip! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how bittersweet your visit to Dallas was. The news clips bring tears to my eyes and remind me of why I have been reading your blog for so long. Your family is beautiful!
