Sorry I had to miss out on the For MOMs by MOMs post last week! Last week’s topic was brining home multiples! I did do a post on that last summer, though 🙂 You can check it out here. Of course, I had other posts about being home.
Heather hosted the linky/blog hop last week.
This week, the topic is feeding and schedules!
I feel like I have already talked quite a bit about both! I’m hoping to read the posts for those of you that link up.
I talked, most recently, about schedule HERE. Part of my Huggies series on expecting & parenting.
I talked, most recently, about feeding HERE. Also, part of the Huggies series!
I don’t think I’ve blogged this yet, but I posted the breastfeeding post, here, last week. However, I wrote it close to a month ago and just made some adjustments before posting. Well, the day after I posted it, Sloane confirmed what I already knew. I had mentioned thinking my production had really slowed down and sure enough, she agreed. She bit me! She bit me, then felt bad and cried. Then, she wouldn’t latch back on. I didn’t offer again. She was done and so was I 🙂 I’m glad we made it as long as we did.
There are both pros and cons to being done. It’s not been hard at all to “dry up” and as far as the most noticeable con…the price of formula, for two. Woof.
Anyways, enough on that. I mean really, you all probably no more about me than you’d prefer to. Sorry! haha
So, I hate to harp on things too much.
Something nice about feeding right now, Knox & Sloane are learning to feed themselves 🙂 Food is going pretty good. Knox seems to be a bit more picky than Sloane, but I think it’s more so about texture. Sloane, however, doesn’t seem to care about texture. She loves the taste of everything. She also gets fists full of food and shoves it in. Quite lady like 😉
I think someone asked me, in the breastfeeding post, when we started bedtime bottles. We started at two weeks. They did good, but every now and then, they would have a bad night and not want them. In that case, I would nurse and then try to top off with a bottle. At one time, after a few nights of bad nights, we stopped the bottles. We stopped for about a week or two. When we tried to start back up, Knox & Sloane had a harder to accepting them that time. So, we learned to stick with it 🙂
Favorite thing about bedtime bottles has been that Brent can give a baby one and I can give a baby one. We currently do that in the night and then morning now. During the day, I let them do it on their own. I sit in the floor with them in case anyone wants help or gets distracted.
We are working on sippy cups. What is your kiddo’s favorite?
As for schedule, I’m a schedule person, but I’ve definitely learned flexibility is a great thing. Knox & Sloane do great with flexibility. I’ve learned to just go with what they are feeling because in the long run, it will go hand in hand with their mood. While we were in Dallas, we put them to bed close two 8pm a few nights (instead of 6:30/7.) They woke up at 8am! I have no idea if this would happen at home, but 7am actually works best for Brent’s morning schedule, so that he can see them before leaving for work. They also napped a bit in their stroller at the mall….not the pack n play. But they did great in the pack n’ play for naps and bedtime. I think with two trips under our belt, they are getting the hang of it.
Our current schedule, for the most part…
7am – wake & bottle
8am – breastfast
8:30 – nap
10:30 – wake & bottle
12:00 – lunch
12:30 – nap
2:30 wake & bottle
6:30/7 – bath/bottle/bedtime routine
It’s all give or take about 30 minutes, especially naps.
Sorry this is all over the place!
We are thinking will be moving the For MOMs by MOMs to another day. Does a particular day work better for you all to do your post and link up? We are finding that Mondays aren’t the best days/mornings. Friday is probably a little hectic, so what is another good option? We will also be better at posting what the topic will be for the following week!
Be sure to check out the other girls posts and link up!
Have a good day! 🙂
