So you look at these two and think, no way do they scream and cry when five seconds before they were all smiles, right? Well, it hasn’t happened too often. However, it has happened.
I think, like most babies, they cry when they have a poopy diaper, when they are irritated about something, and when they are in pain. These are all things you think you can fix as a parent, but sometimes it’s hard.
They haven’t ever been big criers so now, when they do, it’s kind of a process of elimination. Often I can tell by the cry if it’s pain they feel, if it’s a fake cry, or if I need to figure out what it is.
Between the two of them, they already have six teeth and let me tell you, it’s caused some tears.
This is something I had never dealt with–teething, that is. I’ve been around lots of babies, but I just didn’t think about teething being inevitable.
Knox really got his first two teeth without us really noticing. We knew he was drooling quite a bit and maybe putting toys in his mouth a bit more. So, when those popped up we were thinking, wow, are our babies not going to experience painful teething?
After those two teeth, things went downhill in the pain department. As a new mom, it didn’t take me long to figure out what I was dealing with. I know my babies, and I know they are not just going to sit and play with their toy and bust into tears 🙁 I now know when they are teething, and it’s just about the saddest thing ever. To know your baby is in pain, hurting, irritated, and just ticked off really stinks.
As far as medicines go, I’ve talked about only giving Knox and Sloane what they need. Thankfully, Baby Orajel Naturals came to our rescue recently for these incoming teeth!
Baby Orajel Naturals Teething Tablets are belladonna-free, benzocaine-free, dye-free, alcohol-free and paraben-free. Their main ingredient is Chamomilla, so I feel these are definitely something safe to give to Knox & Sloane. They dissolve in about 10 seconds, or you can dissolve the tablets before giving them to the babies.
If you have some sweet teethers on your hand, I highly recommend giving these a try!
