How are my babies HALF a year old? Makes no sense. I still can’t get over how quickly time passes. Make.it.slow.down.
Knox & Sloane will actually be seven months in just six days! So, technically, I’m a bit behind on this post.
These pictures were taken yesterday, but I’ll post one that was closer to their six month birthday, too. Also, not sure if it was the natural light or my camera settings, but I didn’t think the lighting was all too good on the pics. Although, two cuties make up for it 🙂
On their six month birthday, Knox was admitted to the Children’s hospital for metapneumovirus. I did get a cute cake, which was very yummy 🙂
Our week at the hospital as not fun, and if you have been reading I’m sure you’ve already read about it. Let’s just say a sick baby is the worst thing ever. The day after Knox got home, I got a respiratory infection and stayed away from the babies for about 36 hours. A few days after that, Sloane got metapneumovirus. We are very thankful it didn’t get as bad as Knox’s did.
Knox & Sloane are now eating food! That is crazy also. They sit in high chairs; they make noises when they want another bite; they lift their necks for me to put their bibs on.
They are practically starting college next week.
They both do pretty good with food, but Knox does better as far as taking his bites. Sloane takes little bites and would really just suck on the spoon. We started out with oatmeal and both liked. I take that back, we started out with rice cereal and they were just kind of fussy and not sleeping well so I switched to oatmeal. They went back to doing what they were doing. So, they did oatmeal and then pears. Neither seemed to like them, but after a day or so, Knox was good with them and it’s taken Sloane about four days to warm up to them. They’ve done pears, squash and a few other things.
Their six month well check got moved to the end of this month since it was scheduled while Knox was in the hospital.
Knox did go in last week for a follow up and was 15lbs3oz. So, I’m guessing Sloane is close to 16 since he lost some in the hospital.
Some friends I talked with over the weekend let me know their are peds that do well visits at the home. I’m thinking of exploring this. I’m not saying K&S have gotten sick from going to the doctor, but I don’t think it’s a stretch. I’m also REALLY picky about a nurse not washing their hands when walking in the room.
Still in size 2 diapers though I think we need to be in 3. Not really leaking, though, and since things are changing because of food, it’s all staying in one spot. ha.
We started a new schedule a few weeks ago. Wake at 7am, nurse, hang out, solids at 8am, nap 8:30-10:30/11 —- nurse at 11, play, solids at 12, nap 12:30-2:30/3, play, solids at 4, play, sometimes cat nap…sometimes not, bath/bedtime routine start about 6:30. They seem to really like this schedule.
They both love playing with their toys, though Knox is kind of on a I-want-to-be-held kick. I’ve found if Knox is playing and can see me, he really wants me to pick up him and hold him. If I walk around the corner, he stops fussing. I hate not being in sight, but every now and then I do it so that he can get some time focusing on his toys. Of course, I’m still where I can see him…he just can’t see me 😉
They like us to read them books, but they are mainly into reaching out and grabbing the books.
Knox has two teeth and I think Sloane is close. She is really, really keeping her fingers in her mouth.
The skin seems to be doing well. I’ve been doing Auqaphor and corn starch on Knox cheeks and neck to help with his drool and the moisture. It seems to keep his skin less irritated. Sloane has one little spot on her head, but it seems to be clearing up and re-appearing.
They are both trying hard to sit up on their own. They can for the most part, but not for all too long without falling over. Almost there.
They are talking to one another so much and it’s too funny. I really do need to record it soon. I love listening to them when they wake up from a nap.
Knox still only has one bumper at the end of his bed..where he doesn’t really go. Still getting legs stuck some, but usually gets them out on his own. Sloane really hasn’t been moving around much at all when she is sleeping, over the past few days. I make take her breathable bumper off so her and Knox can see one another again. The other bumpers, she never goes close to.
You are just so sweet! We use to think you were the fit thrower, but lately you are much more chill. We are very thankful for that as your cry can be piercing. I really can’t remember the last time you cried for no reason.
Your dady is smitten with you and I’m pretty sure you already know how to bat your eyes at him.
The little grin you give us makes us roll over laughing.
You are so feminine. You always cross your legs at the ankle whether you are playing or just sitting around.
You LOVE the bouncer. We say “bounce, Sloane, bounce!!” and you get the biggest smile and bounce as hard as you can.
You stretch your neck to see what’s going on. You really have interest in most things. It might not last long, but you want to see who is talking or what is going on, at least for a brief moment.
I really never thought I would have a little girl, but I’m so thankful I did and I’m SO thankful it’s you 🙂
Mommy & Daddy
Sloane, want me to take your bow of for you?
No, I’m okay.
I know you don’t want it on, I’ll take it off.
Okay, thanks, Knox.
(should collages like this go horizontal like above or vertical like I did this one?)
They are SO MUCH fun.
They were actually closer to six months on Valentine’s Day. I do love those pictures 🙂
