I enjoy helping my readers promote their businesses :)
To coincide with this, if I purchase something or am gifted something, and I like it, I often blog about it. It's just part of my random nature and blog posting.
I try to indicate whether or not something has been sent for free in hopes of a review or if it's something I found, purchased and liked. If I ever send mixed signals, just comment or email and ask me! I'll always be honest with you all!
With the word "sponsor" being involved...that basically means both parties know what is going on. They are sponsoring me in a way, and I am sponsoring them. They are not telling me what to say. Those sponsoring are found on my right sidebar.
As for my sponsors and advertisers, right now, the majority of them I know on a personal level or have purchased from them. If someone contacts me, I try to research or make a judgement call whether or not it is a good fit for my blog. I do charge a small fee for some of buttons on my sidebar. This helps our family just as I hope advertising on my blog helps those who do so. Some also like to do trading, therefore, do not pay. If they have a product or service that I think would be useful, beneficial or nice to have, I think trading is great.
Everything that I say is my opinion and no amount of money or free merchandise will change what my opinion is :) Of course, I have run into issues where it wasn't something I wanted to post about or thought was a good fit, therefore, I didn't take the time to post about it at all.
If I like a company/store/service, and they have an affiliate program, I enjoy doing that as well. It's basically the same, except they pay no small fee to have their ad on my blog. They pay a small percentage for a sale.
I've gotten several comments and emails over the past few weeks about Whimsey & Co (no link because the shop is closed.) I posted some things I received from this Etsy shop here and here. A few things I ordered and a few of the things the shop owner, Amber, gifted to the Knox & Sloane once I placed and received my order. I spoke to her several times via email and she was always very nice. With that being said, it has been brought to my attention that many of you placed orders, paid and never received your merchandise. This has upset me greatly. I have emailed Amber several times and received a response, after my first email, that she had some unforeseen medical issues come up and was hoping to get everyone's items made and shipped out soon. That has been a few weeks and I'm not sure the status because I haven't received a reply on my most recent email. I do want to say I'm sorry on behalf of her. I recommended her shop based on my experience being a good one. Of course, I had no idea it's future closing. I've offered to help her in any way that I can in order for everyone to get their orders and hopefully I will hear back.
From the feedback I have gotten, all of my sponsors and advertisers have been very pleased with traffic they have received from my blog. I have also gotten positive feedback (besides the above) from people who have made purchases based on my opinion and sharing. Like I said, I really just want to help my readers, whether sharing a product I like or sharing their business. If you want to team up, just send me an email and I'd love to work with you :)
Look for some special twin treats later :)

Megan - I was one of the people that ordered from Whinsey and I really appreciate your honesty about the situation and also 'going to bat' for those of us who ordered and never got those items. You didn't have to do that but shows that you have character and integrity. Thanks!
very well put! it's very nice of you to try for all those who ordered!

I too ordered from Whimsey & Co. after reading your blog. I never received my order or a response (after four tries and waiting 6 weeks to send the initial email). I understand that she has medical issues, but if I owned a business and could not answer emails after taking someone's money and promising them a product, I would make sure someone did it for me. I'm not mad at you, just sayin' :) Also, you can file a claim with PayPal (if you paid via PayPal) to try and get your money back, for anyone who was in that situation!
Oh man! that's too bad. I actually just ordered a melamine tray from rosie posie after seeing the cute one you go on here! So, I think it's a great thing that you're doing to promote the businesses that you like and unfortunately, you can only recommend based on your experience. Hopefully Whimsey & Co will make things right with their customers! I wanted to tell you as well. I have obviously never sent you the coordinating outfits I wanted to for the twins. I'm sorry. I think I just got self conscious about it. I saw all the amazing and wonderful things you've been getting from so many people that are way more professionally done than anything I could have offered. It looked like you had more than enough clothes to fill the little ones closets and I didn't want to add something that was sub-par if that makes sense. I am genuinely so happy for you and your family. I wanted to share those outfits with you not to promote my business, but to just say I was happy and excited for you. I am so glad that you've been able to find so much happiness this year all while still remembering your sweet angel. Hugs Megan!
Wow this situation really stinks. I think you did a really great job of recognizing it here and there is no way that anyone who ordered should blame you. You have no control over that business. I hope all of this gets resolved for those who did order. Happy Friday!
Oh Megan....THANK YOU so much for mentioning this! I have NEVER ordered from Etsy but right about the time you were posting all those cute baby items my mom's best friend was expecting her first grandbaby. I really wanted to get something really nice and out of the ordinary so I 'bit the bullet' and ordered from Whimsey. I ordered 9 month sizes because I figured he would get the most wear out of the items at that stage. From her posting on Etsy she did seem stressed and backed up w/orders so I gave it a FULL 6 weeks before I contacted her to inquire about my order....no response! :-( I just wish she would do the honest thing and refund our money. I fully understand that unforeseen health issues, family issues, etc. can come up and they do take a precedence over a home business...but she needs to operate with integrity if she can't provide the goods, she really needs to refund the money!

Oh man, this really stinks. I hope she is okay and that is why she can't answer the emails mentioned. It was kind of you to contact her for your readers, hopefully something can be worked out.
Thankfully I made a purchase from Whimsey & Co and got my order. It took over 4 months to get it and when I received it was correct. I ordered the gift for a baby shower so it totally stunk I didn't have the gift for the shower. Anways, I hope all these other ladies end up getting their order or a refurnd soon.
I also ordered a pillow from Whimsey & co on October 30 and have yet to receive it after numerous emails with no response. Thank you for mentioning this so we have some sort of idea what's going on. I too hope she is ok, but it seems that a lot of people were taken advantage of. I hate to mention "legal action" but i sure wonder what else can be done. I was very saddened not to receive that pillow for my son who is now here.
Thanks for being an advocate for us. Please keep us updated.
Megan, as an Etsy store owner (I make those cute little cookies you made for your friend's elephant themed shower-great job btw!!!) I cannot imagine not filling paid orders. Health problems or not, I would be on the computer in a minute emailing people and refunding money. It's so kind of you to put your neck out there supporting small businesses. Word of mouth is very powerful...especially coming from someone like you. I hope this won't discourage you from openly promoting businesses in the future!
I also ordered a baby gift from Whimsey & Co. and never got it, she never responded to my emails to her personal email, and you can't even contact her through etsy because the shop is closed. Unfortunately, PayPal did not honor my dispute because the transaction was over 45 days old. I did not dispute the transaction prior to the 45 days because I was waiting for a HANDMADE item! So be forewarned- PayPal is not helpful in this situation if you are over 45 days of the transaction. I ended up getting my money back from my bank's fraud department- but my friend never got the baby gift!
Ordered 50 dollars with of stuff on oct 18 and have never received anything or heard from her.
Hey Megan :)
That's ashame about Whimsey & co bc I've bought a sleeper gown and bibs from her long before you posted about anything and both times I had a great experience! In sorry to hear she's not responding. She has really cute stuff too so I feel bad for so many people not getting their orders. Hope she's okay!

I placed an order with Whimsey & Co on October 20, 2011 and have not received the merchandise. We ordered a pillow, bib, and burpcloth the total cost with shipping and all ended up being $54. As Christmas approached and I still hadn't received the items I tried to contact the shop owner and never heard back from her. I ended up emailing her a total of 3 times. I filed a dispute with Etsy but since her shop is closed nothing could be done, however if she ever decides to open it back up it will have to be resolved. I tried to file a claim with PayPal but it had been longer than 45 days so they couldn't help me either. So here I am 3 months after I placed the order still without the items I purchased and paid for! It has been very frustrating contacting her and not receiving any responses! Thanks for giving an update on her situation I just wish she would either make my items or refund me my money.
