Today, Knox & Sloane are about 2 1/2 weeks old! We went to their two week appointment today with the pediatrician and they are doing great.
Sloane is weighing 7lbs and is 20 inches long (weighed 6lbs2oz at birth.)
Knox is weighing 6lbs8oz and is 19 inches long (weighed 5lbs10oz at birth.)
The doctor said all seems to be going wonderfully. He said Sloane does seem to have a small umbilical hernia, which we knew. They are growing on track, therefore eating well. Doctor said that’s basically what the two week appointment is to check out. It is to make sure they are back up to birth weight.
Both are lifting their heads…and really have been since very early. They are strong 🙂 We are doing a few minutes of tummy time here and there and it’s hilarious. They both raise their legs up at the same time by pushing their elbows down.
They do have some newborn congestion, which can be scary, but Laura, from Moms on Call, showed us good ways to handle that. No, the babes don’t like the suction, but it is necessary. Laura got here yesterday about noon and Brent took her to the airport early this morning. We learned LOTS from her and I can’t wait to get the schedule worked out. Knox and Sloane seem to like everything she did 🙂 Their sleeping went well last night and we are hoping that improves every night. Since their weight is doing good, we are going to spread some nighttime feedings out.
I’ll be doing an extra special Moms on Call giveaway and sharing lots of details on our experience as we go 🙂
We’ve now been to do the doctor three times. I’ve snapped some pics with my phone each time, so I thought I’d share 🙂
This is how they travel outside the home…
We have gotten lots of questions and compliments on the stroller and some amazement stares as though we are the first people to have twins, haha.
For a while they seemed too small in their car seats, but today, they seemed to fit much better! YAY. We were having to tuck diapers around them, but not so much anymore. This picture is from last week. I didn’t get a good one today….but they did look bigger in them.
They don’t typically mind their car seats, but we still have to pull them out for the doctor to check them out
admire their sweet bodies.
Yes, Brent is about to only start wearing his hats while golfing. Me no likey not seeing his face.
This sweet face, though, is pretty ridiculous.
The nurse weighs and measures them. They are usually not really keen on that, as you can probably tell by Knox & Brent’s face….
Me and my little guy last Wednesday at the doctor. Excuse the I haven’t slept in weeks look I’m sporting 😉
The doctor said he really wants us to refrain from taking them out to “normal places” all too much for right now. He said with twins, it really is hard to keep people out of their space. They want to look, lean over and see them, touch them, etc. So, walks in the neighborhood, a quick trip to the store, only if needed, etc. Tomorrow, we may venture to the men’s shoe department at Dillard’s to get daddy some new shoes for work. Laura, from Moms on Call, basically said the same. She said we will kind of keep in the home until April with the flu/cold/rain seasons and their young age during each. This is fine by me, I don’t want sick babies. Of course, we will get out some, just not a daily thing. More like a few times a week.
I think I already blogged this. I had my two week postpartum appointment last week and it went well. I really meant to take a picture of Knox and Sloane with my doctor as he is the one who took great care of us for the past ten months. Maybe at my appointment in a month
unless I can think of a good reason to go sooner, haha.
I forgot the hospital gave me a compression belt. I wore it for a bit on Sunday and yesterday my tummy kind of ached and was sore. I’m not sure if I got it too tight or what. I wasn’t hurting around my incision, but higher up on my tummy. It does feel better today.
