Do you remember my friend, Adam, that I posted about here? Well, they found him this week. Unfortunately, he was not alive. Though, I’m unsure of a lot of details, I believe there was no foul play or accidents involved. My heart is hurting for his family and close friends. They’ve been so strong and never gave up on his search. This isn’t the first time I’ve had/tried to process something like this, but it’s still hard. His memorial is today and I certainly wish I could be there, and I would, if I could travel.
Today, I am 30 weeks pregnant with the twins 🙂
YAY, I’ve hit the 30 week mark! I feel like things go quicker at the 30 week mark. At least, I’m hoping they do. I’m trying not to wish time away, though. I know part of me will miss being pregnant. Well, actually, I will only miss them kicking and moving around. That’s about all there is left to enjoy at this point 😉 I certainly won’t wish any days to pass quickly once they arrive!
We had a doctor’s appointment yesterday and all looked great. The babies are growing right along. Unfortunately, I was put in the room that doesn’t have a machine that prints pretty pics, so none of those. I told doctor next time I must get some new ones.
They are both head down. I have two bottoms, legs & feet that start and go up about 6 inches past my belly button. It’s interesting.
I’ve always meant to measure my belly with a tape measure from the beginning, but I forgot. Last Friday evening was the first time I did and it was 43″ at my belly button. I randomly decided to measure Wednesday night and it was 45″ inches! Wowzers. I just measured and it’s still at 45. I wonder how big it will get. This was Wednesday…
The scale at my doctor’s office said I lost 4 pounds in two weeks. This is not ideal, obviously, but it’s more than likely part of the gestational diabetes. As I said last week, I failed my three hour test, barely. Yesterday morning, I did the class, got my machine, learned how to use it and learned about the meal plan. So far, my numbers have been extremely good and no where close to high. When I saw my doctor yesterday afternoon, I had only had to checks at that point, but he said he really guessed they would all end up fine. He said if my levels were good for two weeks he wouldn’t have me keeping pricking my finger. He did stay he still wanted me see me follow most of the meal plan, though, just so nothing sneaks up on us.
The class seemed a bit overwhelming at first, but I got the hang of the machine and all the charting pretty quick.
Basically, I check my blood when I wake up, two hours after breakfast, two hours after lunch and two hours after dinner. I prick my fingers on their sides. Some of them hurt for a few minutes immediately following, but I haven’t noticed it lasting long. I’m supposed to eat breakfast (30g carbs), snack (30g carbs), lunch (45g carbs), snack (30g carbs), dinner (45g carbs) & snack (30g carbs). Honestly, that kind of seems like more carbs than I was eating before. I’m going to email the dietitian and see if I HAVE to have that many. I’m pretty use to watching the whole carb thing as before I was pregnant, I was keeping a close eye on them for the PCOS. I found out greek yogurt has a ton of protein so I’m going to snack on that. High protein is good because it helps use the carbs properly.
I feel like I’ve slacked on my water intake a bit this week. Which, I can clearly feel as well. More cramping. I’m making a point to keep drinking and drinking…and drinking.
I was going to attempt to meet Jane for lunch on Wednesday, but I got overheated trying to get ready and out the door, so I backed out 🙁 She was so sweet to bring me lunch and the twins a gift! I thought the packaging was so fun.
Also, if you could please keep Jane’s family in your prayers over this next week, that would be GREAT! Jane’s sister, Lo, has cystic fibrosis and has been through SO much in her life. She has had two double lung transplants and is getting ready to undergo a kidney transplant on Tuesday. Jane and Lo’s dad is giving Lo a kidney so she can have another chance a life. A pretty major deal. You can read more on Jane’s blog and in this post.
I keep wanting to show ALL the twins stuff, but then I think maybe I should wait so they can be the little models, haha. I’ll do some and save some, I suppose.
Speaking of hot, there is an excessive heat warning today. I don’t think I’ll be getting out. I needed a few things for my diet plan and wanted to get out last night, so Brent and I made a trip to Target. At 8 or so, it still seemed smoldering. He took this picture of me and I feel look I look hot and miserable, haha. I needs to get the mop on my head thinned!
We bought two fake baby dolls last weekend. This has been suggested to us in efforts to start getting Elton use to the idea that our hands will be full and we will be giving two little ones most of our attention. He is pretty excited over the little noises and such, so we have some work to do. The babies we got make noises. One does a few different things and the other just cries, haha.
The washing and drying is in full force. Almost done.
Here we are today…
Growing, aren’t we? haha. My 19 week post just popped up and man, quite a difference…
Comparisons with Cohen at 30 weeks…
No bare belly today since I have a dress on…
Hope you all have a good Friday 🙂
