One year ago, June 7th, 2010, we welcomed our first son, Cohen, into this world 🙂
The day was filled with lots of emotions, but we were so thankful Cohen came out doing better than expected. He was the most beautiful baby I have ever seen and I was simply in awe.
We had twelve days with him here and it forever changed us.
I wish I had all his little stats to post.
It was such a planned delivery and the doctors were so ready to get their hands on Cohen, that we don’t technically have an accurate weight or time of birth…that I know of. He was born between 8:20-8:30AM. His weight was taken while he was wrapped in a blanket. They then tried to weigh some similar blankets and subtract that weight from what they came up with. So, who knows. The number they gave us was 7lbs6oz, but my guess was a few ounces more. He was a big, little guy!
I can’t believe it’s been a year. Sometimes it still just doesn’t seem real.
I know Cohen is having an amazing birthday party right now. I’m sad he isn’t here for us to have a party with him. I’m sad I have a one year old, but he’s not here with me. We are trying not to be too sad as his birthday should be a celebration of his life! That’s why happy goes in front of birthday, right? 😉
We have been so blessed this year with amazing family and friends. We are also quite thankful for you all in the “blog world” 🙂
The pictures above, and many more, can be found in the delivery slideshow that I posted in this post. Brent’s mom took all the pictures in it. We also had a Children’s photographer following us. We are so thankful to have had a photographer surrounding us that first day. I can’t imagine not having all the pictures of Cohen that we do. I’m also extra thankful I did the weekly “prego mego” posts with him.
This was the first post I did after Cohen was born. As soon as he was born, they whisked him away to the NICU, but thankfully, Brent was able to go. They determined he needed to go right over to Childnre’s. Luckily, they made a stop so I could hold him for the first time, which you see above. Brent stayed with him that first night (and every night after) and sent me the sweetest little videos (I posted here). I had to stay at a different hospital for a night or two, which was not fun. To read more about our days in the hospital, every post is in “Cohen’s Story” at the top of my blog.
Over the next few weeks I’ll share some things about our time in the hospital with Cohen. Some things I may have posted about before and some I have not. I’ll also share our celebrations and how we keep Cohen apart of of daily lives.
Happy Birtthday, Cohen!
We love and miss you very much.
We think about you every single day.
We take care of BT and all your other little stuffed friends.
Mommy, Daddy, Knox, Sloane & Elton
PS – Your brother and sister kick me when I cry just like you did.
