I’ve been on the hunt for quite some time for a printer.
The hunt must stop. We need a printer.
We both had one in college, but when we moved, we for some reason thought we would do away with it. I think it’s probably because we converted to laptops all around. There is something about being able to use a laptop anywhere in your house. Thank the technology geniuses for wireless internet. So, with no office or set desk area, there has been no printer. Brent works in an office daily out of the home and I’m in and out of an office. So, we figured between that and visiting our parent’s houses, we could print when we needed to, which has never been very often.
However, I now find myself wanting and needing to print more often. I need to print from home, when I’m at home. I don’t want to call Brent and work and have to send him what I need to print. Clearly, if it’s something color or a large file, I will use my parents printer. Occasionally, though, I will call him and say, “print this coupon, it expires tonight!” Yes, that happened last week with one of my Groupons. You would think more stores accept coupons via your smart phone, but most really don’t.
So, with my off-and-on obsession for coupons.com and my new found love for colorful printables, I need a printer. No, I don’t need a fancy smancy printer. I just want one that prints high quality color, utilizes ink well and possible has the scanning, fax, copier features. At first, I was going to just forget the fax and all that, but the more I thought about it and the more my mom brought it up, at some point or for something, I may need a fax. I know most printers have copiers/scanners now. I think that’s a nice feature. My mom is constantly making copies of recipes and such for me.
Apple only sells HP printers right now because HP decided to jump on board quickly and be compatible with all Apple products. So, you can print wireless from your computer, ipad, ipod, iphone, etc. After visiting the Apple store yesterday, this was very appealing because we use apple products. The guy made it seem as though it would be somewhat of a hassle to make another printer compatible with my MacBook Pro, our phones, etc.
Our Apple store has two HP printers in stock. One is supposedly the higher quality printer and then one below it. However, the higher quality print uses a single cartridge for the color. From what we’ve gathered, it’s usually better to have multiple color cartridges. That way, if you run completely out of THAT color, you can just replace THAT cartridge. Logical, right? We’ve also been told with individual cartridges, you get a better quality print. Well, then why does HP indicate the opposite? Or do they? Are we even reading and comprehending all this information right?
We go to Office Depot. The guy there tells us Canon prints the best. I think to myself, I love Canon cameras, but how long have they even been making printers? I do know HP, Epson, etc. has been around for a while.
I want my colors to look pretty and sharp and I don’t want to replacing ink all the time. Simple. It needs to be wireless and possible have a fax.
What about Epsons? I’ve heard great things about them. Thus is the Epson Artisan 835 All-in-One I found on their site. Under “specifications”, it seems like it has great features. It looks so sleek and does have a fax.
So, hopefully this is where you all come in. Do you have a printer? Do you like it? Do you have a Macbook and if so, does your printer work well with it? Do you print colorful things? You get the point 🙂 Also, PLEASE tell me if you had/have one you absolutely DO NOT like and would NOT recommend. Does your printer eat ink like I eat fruit? I’m hoping to have lots of feedback and common opinions. It seems like when I read reviews, a hand full of people love a specific printer and a handful hate it. I suppose it may be like that in any situation/printer.
Thank you SO much 🙂
PS – I promise I’m not lacking blog topics, I just really want printer help. Next up, probably laundry help. It’s driving me crazy lately, too! haha
