Yesterday, I became 15 weeks pregnant with the twins 🙂
The week started out pretty rough, but has ended pretty well.
On Tuesday afternoon I started getting lots of pressure pain. It was worse than I’ve had thus far. On top of hurting very badly, it really scared me.
I was feeling relatively fine until about 2pm and then I started hurting really bad. The pain kept getting worse. It progressively increased and by about 9pm I was a bit nervous. I felt fine (or how I’ve been feeling) 10 hours prior and now I couldn’t do anything without hurting. I called my doctor, who was in route back to town. He said he didn’t think I was in trouble. He said he could be a few things and advised if the pain was getting worse and worse to go to the ER. He said if I could lay down and have it subside to come see him in the morning. So I managed to sleep a few hours then lay a few hours. I went in the following morning and everything looked good! The babies are moving around and growing. He said growing is going to do this. There is a lot of blood flow. Normally your blood doubles with a baby; mine has tripled. Things are spreading and growing and stretching. Having had a c-section pretty recently can also be causing things to be more sensitive. Therefore, multiple things inducing the pain. I’m totally fine with pain and I can definitely handle it. I just sometimes need reassurance things are okay since I’ve not done this twin & back-to-back pregnancy thing before 🙂
Within 24 hours, the majority of that pain was gone. Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon, I felt really good physically!
While at the doctor, I also asked:
Is there such thing as too much or not enough water when prego w/ twins? – He said the average person should get eight 8 ounce glasses per day, but clinically speaking, everyone is dehydrated. Since I have a little extra cargo, I need to be aiming in the 90+ ounce area. I’ve been right on track with this, most days. Water is really all I drink anymore. Some days I start a little late, though, and that makes it harder to get as much as I should without. I’ve been doing some juices and the occasional sprite and white chocolate mocha.
Will we go to the cardiologist at 18 or 20 weeks? – We will at about 20 weeks. Their hearts have already developed right now. We are just letting other things develop.
I feel like I’m having a fast heart beat or skipping a bit every now and then. Why? – This is when he talked about all the extra blood. He said my heart is pumping like crazy. Typically, you get a ton of extra blood for one baby and with two, there is a lot more.
Our doctor also has twins so we
Brent asked a few questions about sleeping patterns, feeding, etc.
I gained 1.5 pounds since my last appointment.
Our next appointment is in a little less than two weeks, March 31st.
At that time I will ask:
For a handicap parking tag. Since I can’t walk long, by the time I park in the back of a parking lot and get in the store, I feel like I’m going to collapse, haha.
How bad is it that I keep waking up on my back?
Speaking of sleeping, I think I’m flattening the two body pillows I’m sleeping on. I have two long body pillows next to one another and that’s what I lay on. If I don’t, I hurt worse. I think they are wearing out. Anyone have anything they could recommend that is the same fluffiness, thickness, softness, etc., as body pillows and wide enough for me?
I’m thinking about seeing if there is a class we can take on twins. I wonder if there are any at the hospital or wherever, just like there are normal birthing, newborn, safety, etc. classes.
I have no real cravings or aversions. The smell of broccoli almost made me gag this week.
I can eat often, but never much in one sitting. I really don’t feel like I have much of an appetite.
This week I have liked Amy’s bean & cheddar burrito, toaster strudels & pineapple. Yum….
I’ve felt heat burn for the first time this week
after eating Amy’s burritos both times. I thought I had it towards the end of pregnancy with Cohen, but I think it was mostly reflux.
I do feel movement 🙂 It’s not kicks or punches, but shifting I think. I love to feel movement. I still can’t believe I will have four feet and four hands pushing around on me.
A few people asked me to do pics side-by-side to compare each week to my pregnancy with Cohen. I liked the idea….
Um, yes. Quite different! haha
A few reasons: The body has such a good memory for pregnancy(according to doc). When I became pregnant this time, my body thought it was way more recent than 6 months ago when I was pregnant with Cohen. I did fertility meds and those make things get large quick. My ovaries were huge for weeks. Last but not least, there are two babies! haha
I can’t believe how different everything has been. It’s crazy, but such a blessing!
I’ve purchased & been given a few books regarding twins. I’ve decided there are parts in all of them that scare me, but I’ve also tried to decide that’s normal.
If you know of any good ones, please let me know! I do plan to do a few posts in the future requesting your twin information/knowledge, but I’ll take it at anytime, of course.
I had a yucky night last night, always when I get in bed. Cohen went to Heaven 9 months ago and unfortunately I just kept thinking about leaving the hospital room. ugh. Nine months. I can’t believe his first birthday is so soon. Well, that’s another post in itself.
Anyways, If I get some other pictures uploaded, I’m going to try do a post this coming week about how we told people we were pregnant and then expecting twins.
happy weekend 🙂
