**Thank you all for the recipes and tips on my last post. Those things will help me eat better and I’ll definitely try to keep sharing.
Here is my first recap of New Orleans!
(In a few of the posts, you will see some very yellow looking pictures. I didn’t realize my big camera settings were on sunlight. Therefore, indoor/evening pictures appear yellow : / Some of the pics were also taken with iPhones.)
This was my first time to New Orleans and I had a blast. It was quite different than what I’m use to, but that made it all that more special. It was a fun mini vacay during my birthday.
It was a last minute trip so we had an early departing flight! Oh, and we went to bed about 1am.
My sweet friend, Melissa, and her precious son, Paxton, picked us up from the airport. We then met Melissa’s husband, Matt (who I went to high school with), for lunch. I believe the name of the place we ate was Cafe New Orleans. It was delicious! I’m SO mad at myself for not taking any pictures the first few hours. What was I thinking? no clue. It was so kind of them to host us and show us around!
We spent our time in NOLA with some of our good friends, Micah & Spencer. You will soon see them in pics below 🙂
We stayed at the St.Phillip apartments. They were very nice and in a great location! The courtyard was pretty eclectic!
The place had a great view as well…
(courtyard view and porch balcony view)
I didn’t snap any good inside pics but you might can see parts in pieces in other pictures in my future posts.
There was immediate Razorback spirit as soon as we arrived to NOLA. We bought mardi gras razorback necklaces that were created for the weekend. We sported them the entire time. I loved the fleur de lis that could be found everywhere. NOLA is a town with lots of pride and I loved that about it.
We kind of had pre-dinners each night. Both Sunday and Monday night we went to Felix’s. The boys love them some oysters, though Micah and I do not.
PS – the second night at Felix’s, one of us asked the table next to us to take a picture. It happened to have one of my history teachers from high school sitting at it. SMALL WORLD!
For our main dinner on Sunday night we ate at Desire Oyster Bar. The restaurant was name after “A Streetcar Named Desire.” I believe it was part of the Royal Sonesta Hotel. I’m pretty certain we all enjoyed our meal.
After dinner, we went to the Carousel Bar in Hotel Monteleone. Micah and Spencer had been here before. The bar is an actual carousel and rotates. It was pretty neat!
My eyes do appear to glow with the iphone flash. This night we played around with it and now thing if you hold it at an angle downwards, it will help what that 🙂
It was also the first night that Brent and Spencer decided to “call the hogs” every place we went. It was pretty funny. I will tell you, I’ve never heard the hogs called so many times in a four day period and I went to school at Arkansas for 4 years. I do have video footage of hog calling coming soon.
Part 2 & 3 (maybe 4) coming soon 🙂
*I added a pic with my pretty friends here, as I said I would 🙂
