If you read my tweets you may have concluded Brent and I have been doing a lot of movie watching lately.
We’ve been a little lacking on the Christmas shopping. Honestly, I have been getting flustered with the traffic and all the crowds. Nothing like a little last minute, I suppose. I know some people thing gift cards can be a little impersonal, but I really like them. So, I’ve picked up a few of those quickly. Part of me thinks that unless something is homemade, handmade or personalized, then why not let the person pick their own gift, haha. Actually, I guess I go back and forth on that.
Anyways, back to the movie watching…
This past weekend we went and saw….
Black Swan was quite bizarre, but we both really liked it. It was definitely not the ordinary movie. I think Natalie Portman did an amazing job. I really love her. The movie kept us on the edge of our seats wondering what was going to happen next, which is usually a good thing. It was pretty intense and awkward at times.
The Fighter was also really good. I’m not a huge fan of fighting movies. This one had a lot go on that wasn’t in the ring. Mark Wahlberg & Amy Adams, I liked together. Christian Bale played a good addict. If in question, this is probably a “guys” movie that a girl would probably not mind at all!
We’ve also watched a few movies at home over the past week or so….
I thought The Town was pretty good. It was kind of your typical bank robber movie. To me, it was a bit slow at times. Also, maybe a bit predictable. Overall, it was pretty good and I’d probably sit through it again…..and play on the computer.
All Good Things was another bizarre one. It made me question my love for Ryan Gosling
Noah. Not really, but he plays quite a different role in this. I had just been wondering where Kirsten Dust had been, and then this movie popped up OnDemand. I’m really not sure the story behind it being in the theaters or not being in the theaters. I do know that it was the most expensive movie OnDemand at $7.99. It was probably worth it versus us paying double that to see it in a theater. Throughout the movie, I was mostly thinking “that is just awful”…and “why is he doing that?”…. Oh, it was also based on a true story. The fact that guy isn’t in jail blows my mind.
The Lodger & After Life are both a little lacking. However, they were both kind of played mind games. During both, you are just wondering what is the outcome going to be and who did what. So, for paying nothing to see them, they were fine to watch. After Life had a more Christina Ricci than I would prefer to see, and blood.
That’s my opinion on these movies 🙂 Just wanted to share since many people on twitter were asking!
