A quick note....

Hi all :) I'm drained but I wanted to post a quick note!

Our beautiful baby, Cohen, is here! He is doing really good :)

We are in love.

I'm still waiting to confirm measurements. They pulled him out quickly to check things over and then immediately wrapped him up. However, he was in blankets and a beanie before he got on the scale. The two measurements we got were 7lbs6oz and 7lbs7.6oz. I'll work on finding that out....along with length.

Hazel eyes...like his momma. Brent says he has my lips too.

Most amazing day EVER!

Full of LOTS of emotions. I shed happy tears first.I shed tears of pain next. I then shed tears because I was scared of Cohen going under for his heart cath procedure and the thought of him having surgery on the day he was born. (then lots more tears of pain)


The spinal was horrid. They couldn't get it in and placed properly. I was tense.

I cannot say enough about how pleasant and helpful the staff at Parkland has been.

Flast forward There was lots of tugging and pulling, no pain... BIG CRIES! Cohen came out just crying his eyes out. Talk about the best feeling in the world! They did immediate checks on him and then wrapped him up in a blanket and beanie before they weight him. Therefore, he had weights of 7lbs6oz and one of 7lbs7.6ounces. So. I'll be tracking down the info on that

He came out kicking and screaming and needed no oxygen or no assistance from the resuscitation team. All our friends and family got to see him on his way to the NICU.

He continued to do good in the NICU. Brent got to go in and out of the NICU to see him and before too long, they decided to go ahead and take him to Children's for some tests and the fact they were expecting him.

Before going to Children's, the staff at Parkland brought him to my post postpartum room to see me :) SUCH A blessing!! It was my first time to hold him and I loved it. Here is an iphone pic below. Luckily, Children's had their photographer and captured the special moment.

Though I'm posting lots of iphone pictures, there are many non-iphone pictures to come that I can't wait to see:)

Our faces are pretty funny in this picture...it's like oh my gosh, he is here, he is in our arms and he is okay for this moment.

Thankfully, Brent was able to go to Children's with Cohen. Brent has been the BEST daddy and husband ever (as always)! He hasn't stopped. He met with doctors all day, found out plans, procedures, results, etc...,and stayed by Cohen's side.

At one point, they thought Cohen would need surgery as soon as tonight (monday evening). Instead, they decided to hold off and do heart cath. Both of these, of course, freaked me out to hear,,,,, only hours after Cohen was born. He had to go under for the heart cath tonight and about an hour and a half later Brent called to tell me it went well and things looked better than expected. His veins and arteries looked much better than the fetal ECHOs displayed. His heart is still looking about the same from what they've determined. Since Brent has spoken to all the doctors today, after their exams, I'll have him work on a post full of the detailed information.

Since the heart cath looked good, they were able to push the first surgery back a few days. They have determined he will only be able to have a one chamber heart.

I wish I could have been with him all day. Thank goodness for technology and a wonderful husband. I got all sorts of videos and pictures. Brent even got to be at Cohen's first bath tonight. Cohen ha his hair all washed and "styled". As you will see in a video I will post soon, Brent requested he have a "comb over"....haha. He titled the email that with than attach picture (I'm posting below).

My mom is staying the night in my hospital room and Brent and my brother are staying the night with Cohen in his. I'll get to go see Cohen tomorrow :)

Here he is before going in for his heart cath and one after his heart cath. He is intubated now so that his little body doesn't get worn out. I can't wait to post the videos of Brent talking to him



I thanked God over and over today for the way things went. I was not ready to have Cohen go into surgery the day he was born, so that was a huge blessing. Soon after the call saying surgery maybe for last night, they were able to witch it to today and a cath would be done last night. Finally a final blessing for the day when Brent called and said his heart cath looked good on the veins and artery side and that would help them wait a few additional days for his first surgery. I think we are now looking at Wednesday.

I pray that I can handle the days even when there will be moments I know don't feel like I can.

Thank you to everyone for everything. Cohen is so thankful for all the support you have given to all of us. I will continue to keep you all updated, and as always, we covet your prayers.
