Prego Mego - Week 29 was last week (recap)

Hi everyone :) I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! I'll do a little recap of ours soon. It was also our youngest niece's birthday.

Thank you all for your sweet comments on my most recent update on Baby Cohen (I put the link below). I greatly appreciate all the comments and emails.

Last week I was 29 weeks pregnant with Cohen and spent the week traveling and going to doctors appointments. We have decided that baby Cohen will be born in Dallas and experience the great care at Children's Medical Center. We feel 100% comfortable with our decision. You can read more details HERE from the post I did after our return from the most recent visit to Dallas.

I was one exhausted pregnant lady last week! We woke up bright and early Monday morning to catch a flight to Houston. I may only be on my feet for about 10 minutes and then they start hurting! I can definitely tell the 3rd trimester is making me quite tired much like the first!

I will say, flying was a lot more comfortable than riding in a car for multiple hours. We were in the car on the trip back home.

Here I am at 29 weeks.....
I think I completely forgot to take any sort of side picture. I thought about staging one days later but just didn't feel right about it!

A little bit about week 29....As you may have read, Cohen was measuring a week larger so, more like 30 weeks! He weighed about 3lb4oz. I hope he keeps growing lots.

During week 29, we got to see him on screen THREE different times! I had two ECHOs and one sonogram. Here(again) is his profile from the sonogram....

I don't feel like it would really be possible to leave out the fact that during week 29 a good portion of our week was spent eating yummy food. We always have the same things here at home and it was nice to get out and have some little local places! A week away from my sandwiches, apples, burritos, shakes, etc was lovely.

We got to Houston a few hours early. We almost got to meet with sweet Heather but she had a few things come up! Hopefully, I'll get to meet her in the future :)

First, we went to Croissant Brioche French Bakery & Cafe ( I think it's short name is Cafe Brioche). We were going to head a few places first but even some of the breakfast places and bakeries didn't open until 10:30! I had a piece of quiche that contained tomatoes and onions..yum!
I THEN had creme brulee. I LOVE creme brulee

While I had breakfast/brunch type things, hubs had a sandwich from a place next door but still located on Rice Blvd.

After our first snack (we will just call them snacks, k?), we went in some shops on Rice Blvd. I'm certain that there are more baby and mom stores on that street than any other street in Texas! I'm serious, every other door was something to do with mom's or babies. I think my FAVORITE was Doodles. They had SUCH cute stuff! We didn't make any purchases as we only had one bag as our carry on and were catching an evening flight.

After walking around, we went to Ruggles Cafe Bakery. Heather suggested this. EVERY plate we saw looked delicious but since we ate a bit earlier, we weren't all too hungry. Hubs and I split sweet potato fries...
hubs is NOT a coffee guy but was needing some pep in his step so he got a caramel macchiato. It wasn't his favorite but he liked it okay. He liked the ginger snap cookie they gave with it. I thought it was funny watching him drink out of the big glass.

I enjoyed being in Houston Monday morning with hubs. We had a nice time together just walking and snacking. We had our doctor's appointments and headed to Dallas.

Brent's aunt and cousin picked us up from the airport and took us to a yummy Mexican food place in Colleyville. They were so good to us while we were there! We certainly appreciate the hospitality!

One thing I might add, when I travel, I DO NOT drink enough water. I do once I reach my destination but not while in route. Why, you ask? I HATE going to potty in airports, airplanes, etc. So needless to say, once we arrived to Dallas, baby Cohen was SO thirsty. Of course, he was up all night to potty haha.

Tuesday morning Brent and I got to sleep in. I slept till about 8 and he managed to do about 11. I always tell him the sky is much brighter in Texas! I saw it peaking through the window in our cousin's condo so I opened the door to snap a picture!

While in Dallas, we ate a few more yummy places..

La Madeline.. I've liked La Madeline since I can remember. I think it was junior high when I first ate that. I'm glad there are more throughout Dallas now. My tomato soup and mini tiramisu :).....

We had Little Katana for a quick snack. No, this isn't my roll. It was the one Brent picked. I get cooked stuff. We love sushi and were pleased to stumble upon this little place.

We had a delicious dinner at Taverna with one of my besties, Natalie. I took a picture of my dish which was Paglia e Fieno. It's pasta with chicken in a white cream sauce and truffle oil. AMAZING. It was our second time to eat at Taverna and we really love it.

Cohen didn't know Starbucks had cupcakes so he had to have one. He really liked it. Hubby might have found a coffee drink he likes. I got a white chocolate mocha half caff and only had about half of it so he drank some and said it was pretty good.

So yes, Cohen definitely might have gained some weight last week. I'm certain his momma did! If any of you have any Dallas recommendations, let us know :) We won't really have any spare money for food but when we must eat out, we will pick our places wisely. I've had some great luck printing off certificates on restaurant.com. I've found a few places I know in Dallas and I've bought the $25 off a $35 purchase for $2 bucks! That is a GREAT deal.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this in the last post, but once Cohen is born if I'm attempting to breastfeed (in our situation, pump), then I'll get 3 free meals a day at Children's. That will be really helpful and I've heard the food is quite tasty for a hospital.

Cohen was moving around a lot last week. He did pretty swift jabs. He is a sneaky little guy though. Nearly every time his daddy put his hand on my belly, the kicks stopped.

"Seeing" Cohen so much on screen last week really has us wondering what he will look like! Everyone seems to think his profile looks quite a bit like mine.

I want to stay in as LONG as he can but I am so ready to see him. It's bittersweet that time is flying by so quickly.

Week 29 brought on the arrival of our first few medical bills. They weren't small ones either :( I know they will keep coming. It's pretty scary that once Cohen is born he will probably only have insurance a month or two and then will have reached his lifetime max. yikes. Those are things we try not to think about but just can't help it.

I didn't sleep much last week as it was even harder in other beds than I thought it would be. I typically think hotel beds are comfy...Cohen didn't. He is doing a bit better in our bed here at home, thank goodness.

Brent put some songs on his iphone we wanted Cohen to listen to. Now, we can play them to him anytime we want :)

I think that is about it for last week.

I'll leave you with a sweet pic of these two :)
I'll do Prego Mego week 30 in the next day or so. I turn 30 weeks tomorrow(Tuesday)! I'll have some belly pics!

  2. There are so many good restaurants here in Dallas... I assume you guys will be living near Children's. Definitely look in the Uptown area, tons of apartments and close to Children's. Eatzi's is great for salads, sandwiches and deli-food. Nick and Sam's Grill (make sure you go to the grill, not the steakhouse) is really yummy and priced so well. We love State and Allen Lounge, easy take-out there too. There are tons of things up and down McKinney Ave too that will make easy meals for yall (potbelly, chipotle, etc.) Hope some of those help!

  7. Wow that's scary about the insurance thing. I had no idea it was like that. :( Looks like you guys had a good trip and all the food looks fabulous!

  8. That insurance situation is horrible! I don't want to politicize your blog but you should contact your representative/Senator and ask them what the new law would do for your family. Whether you agree with it or not it is law so you may as well take advantage of it if you can. Now i'm quite familiar with that world so they may try to buck your call but don't let them. Insist that it's not a policy question or comment but that you need to talk with someone in particular. They may already know this but ask them to contact CRS if they're giving you a hard time about getting that information.

  11. My daughter was at Children's when she was 1 month old and I had their meals because of nursing her. That was definitely my best experience with hospital food! At the time they had good brownies. :) The only meal I didn't enjoy as much was breakfast because it was primarily "kid food".

Be sure to bring some hearty snacks too as you might be surprised how hungry you will be!

  12. A couple of other things I thought of.....

My daughter was on the cardiac floor the first few days (because the regular floors were completely full) and we LOVED the staff there!

Also, when we were there it was hard to find anyone who could help when my pump would occasionally have issues. I ended up calling the lactation consultant at the hospital where I delivered for better advice. HTH!

  16. Mmm, my mouth is watering with all those food descriptions. I loved being 8 months pregnant at Christmas time because it gave me the perfect cover for gaining weight from too much food!

  20. Hey Megan! I read your entire update post on Cohen the other day, but I can't remember if I posted a comment. My heart just goes out to you. You are such a sweet girl & I'm praying so hard for you, Brent & Cohen. I know God has great plans for this little baby. I was telling Jason (my hubby) about your story & we both realize how fortunate we are to have a healthy baby boy. You being so open about your story has touched many hearts. Cohen is already one lucky little boy to have parents like you. Just know that you have many people thinking & praying for ya'll.
