Never Again!! {A MUST READ}

Never again will I think about these....
(sorry to go from food to bugs but I just think you should know...)

The sad thing is, I never really thought about them much in the first place! However, yesterday Dr.Oz opened my eyes to a whole new disgusting world possibly living in my bedroom. That's right people, DUST MITES. I cannot find a video clip of what I watch on the Dr.Oz Show yesterday but oh my goodness. Talk about FREAK ME OUT! I recorded and even made hubby watch it last night. Keep in mind the picture above is an animated picture. The ones on the show were LIVE and slimy and tiny and oh gosh, I feel nauseous just thinking about it.

Yes you can beat your butt I immediately went and spent $100 on ways to protective hubby and I from these. I'm probably not done either! I of course want to provide our guests a safe bed when they come to stay. The ONLY way you can is to put your pillows and mattress in casings. They are especially made for this reasons but they help with many other issues as well. I came home with the mattress case, pillows & pillow covering by Allerease.

If you want to watch the Dr.OZ Show on this (which I think you should) it comes on a 2nd(same episode) time at 1:35AM tomorrow morning (at least where I am). So check your local listings! It's normal time here is 2pm on NBC.

According to doctors and the Aller-Ease website "The average bed can contain up to 10 million dust mites and mattresses can double in weight every 10 years due to microscopic allergens that accumulate inside." UM REALLY!?!?!?! icky! I can't believe I could have been sleeping with these things!! EWWWWWWWWWY. I really am petrified!! I think you should consider your situation if you are in the same one!

I think you all are probably aware that my husband and I LOVE us some food. We enjoy cooking and dinning out.
Here are some yummies from the end of last week/weekend...

Thursday night - How delicious to these look?? Well, I did NOT make them. I purchased them at Super Target! I actually got both of these for about $3.50. I think they were close to $7 but there was a coupon on the packaging. They had asparagus and cheddar in the chicken. Really good. I also picked up several other dishes with coupons :)

Friday, I decided I would make Italian Sausage sandwiches for dinner. Hubby LOVES Italian Sausage. I had a few sweet potatoes so I googled a recipe for fries! There are several local places that have sweet potato fries and I much prefer them over regular fries. I've never been a big fry girl....Here is what I did...

We have good knives....some really good ones. THEY WOULD NOT EVEN BUDGE INTO THE POTATOES!! So, after I washed & skinned the potatoes, I put them on a plate and zapped them in the microwave for a few minutes. This allowed them to soften up and for hubby and I to cut them. I think he only helped me because he doesn't trust my mad knife skills ;)

I got the sweet potato fries recipe here. It is an awesome blog with SO many yummy recipes on it! I took the below recipe directly from it.....

Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries
serves 4-6

Several people have mentioned that their fries didn’t come out crispy. Please note that cooking times are an estimation. Different ovens cook differently so you may need to increase the time to reach desired doneness. Ovens should also be regularly calibrated to ensure that the temperature inside the oven is the temperature on the dial.

1 – 1 1/2 lb sweet potatoes
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil (preferably the easy release kind).

Peal the sweet potatoes. Cut into strips that are about 1/2 inch wide on each side.

Place the sweet potatoes into a resealable plastic bag. Add oil, salt, paprika and cinnamon. Seal the bag and shake well to thoroughly coat the fries. Spread the potatoes out onto the baking sheet in a single layer.

Cook for 30 minutes, turning every 10 minutes, until slightly browned. Transfer immediately to a paper towel lined plate and serve warm.

**I did not do all the exact measurements. As I've mentioned before, I like to just estimate and put what I like based on how well I like it. Nice, I know. Well mine turned out SO awesome. Hubby LOVED them....as did I. Yes, we ate the whole tray.

Here are the fries with the Italian Sausage sandwich. To make these sandwiches, I used Johnsonville MILD Italian Sausage, Traditional Prego sauce, white onion, banana peppers, parmesan cheese & whole grain sub buns. I sauteed the onions banana peppers (though hubby put fresh and sauteed peppers on his. He is OBSESSED with banana peppers.) The sandwich was SO SO SO good :)

Saturday, Hubby & my brother had more of the above sandwiches and I ate the fries. For dinner, Hubby and I went with some friends, Travis & Lindsey, to Outback! We went to their house to watch the Arkansas game (we won't talk about that). Travis and Lindsey were talking about liking ahi tuna and hubby and I quickly said our favorite was at Outback. If you all have not tried their seared ahi tuna, you must. It is amazing. I forgot to snap any pics!

Sunday morning, I woke up to find these two cuddled up on the couch..... I decided to fix them something yummie! I used our waffle machine and whipped these up. I added powdered sugar, cool whip & strawberries :)


Sunday night, we went to dinner at a local restaurant to celebrate our friend Jamie's birthday! Her dad was so nice to have us :) Jamie lives one street over and I met her just a few months after I met hubby as they grew up together. Jamie and hubby's sis have been best friend for a long time!

So yes, much love for food. It was s delicious weekend. I've got to cut more of my carbs though. I've gained lbs and though it could definitely be from several things, I imagine my food intake is the top one, haha.

Tonight, I'm making crab stuff tomatoes :) We will see how they turn out!

Speaking of food, I was able to get %80 off Restaurant.com certificates today? Remember my post on them here? Well, I got six certificates. Four certificates to our favorite place and two certificates to places we have never been. They are all for $25 off a $35 purchase. That's a savings of $150 and I only spent $12 :) Good deal!

Pumpkins have taken over! - {fall decor pt 1}

Hi everyone! Happy Monday :) I have decided fall is my favorite. Every year I'm so happy when it arrives. The weather is sunny and perfect. It is awesome. Between magazines and websites, I've come across lots of fun ideas involving pumpkins. Last fall, my mom painted me a silver pumpkin with black damask stencil. She did great. It was very pretty! This year, I decided I would paint some myself. I bought a bunch of pumpkins...most real..a few fake! Some of them I painted and some I did not. Here they are...

I forgot to take a picture of this one before. It is a fake carvable pumpkin that I bought from Hobby Lobby. I know the "M" isn't perfect. It was my first time and I had no idea what I was doing. I used a steak knife! HA

So, as you can tell, I love to seasonal decorate. I got it from my mother. She has always had seasonal goodies all around the house. I will post more of my fall decor very soon! Here are some pics of my decor last year.

Pretty Polish

I love nail polish. A few weeks ago when I saw Kate Beckinsale on Conan I noticed how pretty her nails looked. They were very metallic looking. I couldn't tell the exact color but it seemed somewhat dark..maybe even a hunter green. I went to the Chanel counter because I remember seeing a metallic bottle. It was gold and while the bottle was metallic, the color when put on my actual nail, did not appear metallic.

While in Wal-Mart the other day I browsed the nail polishes. I came across these two beauties!

This is a silver metallic. It's shade is "Steel-her Heart"(907). This is it on my actual nail. It turned out very metallic which is what I was going for. I know it's sloppy as I was just putting it on quickly once I got home. The flash takes away a bit of the color. I love it though!

I LOVE blue. It has always been my favorite color. I have been wearing "Light my Sapphire" by OPI for a few years. This Revlon one is "Midnight Affair" (791). I think it's awesome! This is how it appears on my nail.

I am happy I found these! Might I add, I do think Revlon nail polish is less expensive than it use to be. I feel like it use to be around $5. These were $3.88 each. While I do love OPI and Essie, I typically only buy them when I have a 20% off coupon at Ulta or $3.50 off a $10 purchase. I will continue to do so, but I'll also be browsing all the other brands out there.

Now, I have a question. do you all put anything on top of your polish to help prevent chipping? I'm certain I need something as I always seem to be chipping as I do laundry, was dishes, etc.

By the way, Kate Beckinsale has huge hands. They are bigger than Conan's and he is one big guy! She is still beautiful.

Going to work!

This morning I went to work with daddy :)


His office decided to have a doggie mascot. It won't be the same dog all the time. Each Friday someone in the office will bring their dog. I started with week one. Mommy dropped me off about 11 this morning. She had me in my tie and ready to go. There aren't that many people at dad's office so it was nice getting to spend time with all of them.

Out and About

Hi everyone! Happy Thursday :) This week has gone somewhat fast! I feel like all we have done is watch fall TV. We do not mind at all :) A nice relaxing week.

Last week we dinned here....
where is this do you ask? It is here....
Yep, the River Spirit Casino. The food was good. There was some I liked and some I didn't like. We went with hubby's dad and his dad's girlfriend. It was my first time and I thought the dinning room was fun. I'm not a big casino person. I simply don't like to gamble because when I lose, I get so upset because it involves money. Though when I win, I do get REALLY excited. I just want to win every time I put any money in a machine. Not possible, right?

Do you all go to any casinos? There are several in my state. There is now a Hard Rock as well. I mostly appreciate the good people watching I am able to do when I go. I think of a casino like I do a fair. There are quite the variety of people.

I'm not sure if hubby took this to show the people who were gambling or just because. Here I am..
He wanted this because he was wearing his hogs shirt, go figure!

Last Thursday I met Jessica & Lucy for lunch here...

The Wild Fork is yummy! (Yes, my new habit is to snap a picture of the menu). I had a lentil salad. Lucy was 9 months old on this day. Time has flown by fast it seems. Before long, she will have a sister, Penny Lane!

She got a fun toy after lunch for her special 9th month :) Jess, I still have your bday present!


This past Sunday we went to the first annual Rock N' Rib Festival sponsored by Rib Crib. It was a pretty small festival as it was the first year. I wish we had more festivals so it was nice to go and hang out. Me, hubby, Marcus & Mandy went. Marcus and hubby are family..long story. They are so fun though and we love hanging out with them :) We had BBQ, they had beer and I had yummy lemonade!

When we were getting on the highway leaving the festival, this car was in front of us. LOVELY. I won't make any comments on the person driving but I'm sure your mind can wander....


I'm going to tell you of all the shows were have been watching probably tomorrow. We didn't watch any of Grey's last season so it is on DVR tonight. I want to get caught up before we start again. Hubby seems to have no interest.

I am still loving the Dr.Oz Show. Such good info. And Oprah, she has had some awesome interviews lately. She had two days of Whitney Houston, the old MJ with her new commentary & Makenzie Phillips yesterday. Did you all see that? WOW.

Almost Housewives time, sick I know.

Any plans for the weekend? We have none! We were going to go to Fayetteville for Bikes, Blue & BBQ. It is a HUGE festival. We decided not to though. We may have a garage sale on Saturday. We have lots to get rid of! I have a few projects I'm going to work on that involve paint. No, I'm not painting the red secretary :) I have decided to keep it red as I've grown to love it!

In case you all were wondering, I'm not a fan of the "two week wait"...BOO. I think the FertilAid is doing good but possibly making me gain some lbs...double boo. It could just be that I'm eating too much!! Who knows. Nothing matters as long as the outcome is good. Prayers and optimism are my life.

Back to TV couch time with my favorite person & dog!
