I've been tagged!

The Polka Dotted Owl tagged me to fill out this fun survey about..me!

Step 1: respond and rework—answer the questions on your own blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.Step 2: tag—eight other un-tagged people.

1. What are you wearing right now? Well, I'm about to get dressed!! Currently.. blue pj pants (lazy) with white dots and a red bar t-shirt i got in Destin like 10 years ago. Shoes..pink house shoes..those soft ones with dotted looking things in the material. Yesterday, I wore my Merrells with my work attire for a meeting. Hey, it was a slushy, icey mess out!

2. What's the last thing I read/ are currently reading? Last night I read Feb. issue People Style Watch & InStyle & my Bible. The last book I read through was Rosie Dunne. I liked it!

3. Do you nap a lot? Nope, I am not a nap person. If I fall alseep during the day I wake up feeling very drab and I just don't like it!

4. Who was the last person you hugged? My husband & friends last night :)

5. What's your current obsession/addiction? See this post.

6. What was the last thing you said out loud? Do you want to go to the mall with me....I said that to Brent. He clearly said no. I even told him I was going to Victoria's Secret to use my gift card. He still said not..but that he would check that out when I get home! MEN!

7. What websites do you always visit when you go online? gmail.com, blogspot.com, thefacebook.com (not always but sometimes)..I go to a lot of sites but not really every time I get online. We should ask my husband this question..he checks TMZ and those junk websites every day...it's funny. He always updates me on the celeb gossip! haha

8. What was the last item you bought? Lunch at the Brook yesterday with Kristen. I could make a killing if I'd stop eating lunch out! bad megan.

9. What is your most challenging goal? Hmm, well this whole low carb lifesyle is somewhat of a challenge..and going through menopause is quite the pain in my ass.. those aren't goals but I guess they lead up to the goal of being a momma! I'll do any challenge for that :)

10. If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished- anywhere in the world, where would it be? Oh geesh, I don't know. I like where I am. I don't think it would matter as long as I'm with Brent and Elton. However, I like to be close to family & friend. So, if I had all the money in the world, I'd probably just move everyone I know to the same town with super cool houses. I'd probably buy the town and call it...."Marshallville" haha

11. Favorite Vacation spot? New York City or any pretty beach!

12. Say something to the person who tagged you: The Polka Dotted Owl has a great blog and I love to read it! She has such funny stories!

13. Name one thing you just can't resist no matter how bad it is for you: carbs once a week. ..I eat carbs every day...I have to have my once a week fix where I cheat and eat more than normal

14. What is your favorite item of clothing? I don't have a specific item, well I have several I could pick. I am defineitly a dress person. I LOVE dresses!! Lets just say you should see my closest(s)..yes, plural. I dream of a closet like my friend Cameron's. It's about half the size of our bedroom!!!

15. Favorite pair of shoes you keep going back to over and over, even though your closet is over flowing with a zillion others?! Well I can wear my converse with ANYTHING.. I tend to wear my black skinny strap reefs with anything during the summer. love them. I have tons of cute sandals, heels and boots too..basically, I love shoes. I don't have a good answer for anything! haha

16. Name one thing you can not live with out: I'm going to cheat because I can't pick one thing. First instinct would be Brent but I'd have to go on living if something happened to him :( So, him, Elton, family, friends, pictures, music, love...and many more..I can't stop.

17. Has a celebrity's haircut ever influence you on your own hairstyle? hmmm not that I can think of. I like some stars with shorter hair..or shoulder length. I have SO much hair though, that I can't really go short!

The lucky 8 that I tag are:
Katie @ The Mentzel's
Holly @ The Hickerson's
Shuggie @ Designing Woman
Jill @ the young & the precious
Megan @ Perfectly Imperfect....
Alyssa @ The Anderson Family
Jill @ French Kiss
Sarah @ The Greer's

I will admit back in the AOL email days, I was a survey junky. This takes me back and it was fun! Ashley, if you are reading...I would have tagged you if you were "blogging"..do it :)

Happy Weekend!! ~ Megan

The Musical About Love

Last Friday night I went to see The Color Purple at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. It was a wonderful musical that I highly recommend seeing!

The play is presented by Oprah and has many awards thoughout the years. Alice Walker wrote the book. Steven Spielberg also made a 3 hour movie in 1985 with a cast that included Oprah, Whoopi Goldberg and Danny Glover. It happened to be on the day after I saw the musical!

These are a few pics I took of us girls that went.

Ice & Snow Days

My past two and a half days have been relaxing and slick! Starting Monday early afternoon, we started getting sleet! I came home from work a bit early as I clearly am not going to work outside in those conditions. Brent and I just hung out and watched movies all night.

Tuesday morning, we woke up to find ice..lots of ice! It was not near as bad as our last ice storm but still there. I got up Tuesday knowing I woulnd't be able to work. For Brent, it was optional to go in for a bit. A friend that he works with came to pick him up in his SUV. I made them breakfast then hit the couch :) I've pretty much been here since! Cameron & Jamie came over about lunch time. Jamie did get stuck on the way to get Cameron...funny. We made pizza and soup. Later on, Callie, Kyle & Matt came over. Then, when Brent got home we played Cranium while it snowed hard for a few hours! Everyone started to get stir crazy so we headed to the always close-by Louie's. It is about a mile and a half away. We went in trucks so the roads didn't seem too bad... though they were solid ice. We needed a few more hours of snow :)

I don't know if having a few cocktails makes someone with menopause have TERRIBLE nights but I had the worst yet last night :( I tossed and turned..awake...all night. I felt like my body was about 150 degrees. Brent got up a few times to get me a cold, wet wash cloth. I could have laid on the cold tile in the bathroom but he wasn't going to go for that. No opening the window either. I felt like crap and cramping this morning so I laid around. Brent went to work about 9. Cameron and Jamie came over pretty soon after. Cameron made me waffles in my new waffle machine. Sweet friends :) We laid around all day watching old 90210 episodes, The O.C. & "The Women". I thought it was a cute movie. We picked up the Brook for lunch. It is close and yummie. Yes, I have taken a shower in these two days. Yes, I do have to work tomorrow. I've got a meeting at 9am to introduce a client to a caregiver. So there ya have it! I've used every towel and blanket in our house and I have piles of laundry to do. I should have done it today/tonight..duh.

We didn't go without power but I know a lot of people did. Oklahoma was declared a State of Disaster. I'll say a prayer for those that are at Red Cross and all the other places getting help.

Here are a few pics from the past two days.

A little snowy back.

This was this afternoon. I took it from inside, yes. It was very sunny today but we still have ice and snow.

ps ~ Something extra great happened today for the Stamps! Harper came off her machines and her mommy got to hold and feed her! She is adorable and our prayers are being answered! :) They are hoping she can maybe go home next week.

Game Night @ The Cermaks

On Saturday night (I guess two weeks ago, the 17th), Brent and I went to the Cermak's house for game night! Jessica had us bring whatever pizza topping we like to cook onto cheese pizza. I thought that was a fun idea! We had cocktails, played Cranium & played with Lucy. She is getting so big but she is still so little. We met a new couple, Meredith and Shane. They have the sweetest story of meeting on Yahoo Personals! Lots of fun!

Things I like in January

This was my first mosaic and it was fun. It took me a few days to figure it all out but here it is :)

The things I like this month!

1. I got 4 pairs of these J.Crew argyle socks for Christmas and I love them. They are so long & pretty.

2. I've decided to start using coupons (today) and I already like it!

3. I bought this Laura Mercier eye liner in Black Turquoise at the first of the month. I've always used black and I really like the hint of color.

4. I am enjoying being a blogger!

5. I LOVE this season of the bachelor. The girls are CRAZY and the ex-bachelorette comes back..can't wait!

6. I love these Crystal Light Live Active Packets in Peach Raspberry. They are supposed to help with digestion.

7. It is trashy with a capital T but I can't get enough of The Real Housewives of Orange County!

8. This nail polish is called "I'm with Brad" it is Sephora by OPI. I bought it in December and just found it, haha. It is dark with red glitter..so pretty!

9. I love Valentine's Day anything..love hearts, love red & pink, etc...

10. Tulips are at the stores! They aren't in yards yet seeing as it is sleeting here right now. I bought some though and they've lasted over a week.

11. I'm obsessed with this Moroccan Hair Oil! It is wonderful. You can probably get it at a salon close to you or off line! I put the link in the word.

12. This is really random but I love these Hormel Pepperonis. I've never been a big pepperoni person when it is on pizza. These though, right out of the fridge are yum...and good for my "low-carb lifestyle" :)

What do you like this month??

hugs & icey roads ~ Megan

* HAPER OPENED HER EYES TODAY AND SQUEEZED HER DADDY'S HAND!!! How exciting! Very special moment for the Stamps. Click the Harper button to the right for an update! And please keep praying!

I Think I Want to be a Coupon Queen

So this morning, I was reading some blogs I've come across lately. Whether it is coupons, free shipping or Walgreens rebates, there are people that dedicate their time to finding and showing the best deals around. There are women out there that MAKE money using coupons. Not only do they get all their groceries for free, sometimes they get cash back!

I got to thinking, I spend probably at least $75.00 on groceries each week (sometimes much more). Why shouldn't I find coupons, cut them and save some money!? I occasionally have some time on my hands so cutting and organizing coupons wouldn't waste time. I got online today and PRINTED out coupons. It was easy. I found multiple websites that let me print manufactures coupons off. I'd go through, select the ones for the things we use then and print them off! I also called our local newspaper and subscribed to Sunday delivery only. It is a few more cents than picking it up at the store but the convenience of someone delivering is worth it to me. The Sunday paper is FILLED with coupons. I don't think I'd spend that much time trying to figure out which store has the best price. Although, I think I'll look at sale ads.

Me, Brent and my brother typically cook at our house Mon-Fri night. Probably 3 nights out of the week we get fresh fish from the a local grocery store's seafood counter. I'm on a HUGE salmon kick! Some Fridays we may go to dinner (For dinner out, I did buy a coupon packet from a kid in our neighborhood. Her school was doing a fundraiser and I got about $300 worth of coupons for restaurants (chain and local) all for $20 bucks!). With three of us, two being men, groceries can add up. I vowed to myself that I wouldn't buy things simply because I had a coupon but I would buy them if we USE the things.

I used my first coupons today! I saved $8.00. I found coupons for some of the things I get every time I go to the grocery store or might need specifically (coffee creamer). The things included Mission tortillas, frozen veggies, bottled water, ahi tuna steaks, coffee creamer, Butterball turkey bacon, Progresso canned soup. I was pretty proud of myself!

To start this process, I set up an email account strictly for receiving offers and coupons. Some of the websites I went to would link me directly to a specific brand website...Betty Crocker, GE, Progresso had a site and so on. They all wanted me to enter an email address and a log-in. This way, I can log in to print off coupons and they can send me updated when they add new.

I will let you all know how it goes. I think it is a logical way to save some money and get the "bang for your buck"...do you all use coupons?

happy frozen cold monday! ~ Megan

Until next year...

So, I have FINALLY got all my Christmas stuff taken down and put away! I've vacuumed up mounds of glitter and wrapped hundreds of ornaments. I did it in a very slow an organized manor..but hey, it's done right? I got it all put away in tupperware containers and ready for my husband to put in the attic. We put the three trees up there last weekend.

Table behind the couches

Entryway table

Fireplace mantle

Elton is his santa outfit! haha

Kitchen Tree

I love the martini & shaker ornaments..there is a wine glass & champagne flute somewhere!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I am being VERY lazy today and just hanging around the house. Last night I went to see "The Color Purple" musical with a group of girls. It was a lot of fun! The play was great. We went and ate at the Polo Grill before. I came home after the play because I was tired and didn't feel great. I was also hungry. I decided to heat up some riso pasta stuff Brent had the night before (100% carbs). Needless to say, I ended up getting sick. My tummy and emotions haven't been so nice this week. So, today I'm taking it easy because tonight we are going to a concert! Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley & Darius Rucker are playing at the BoK Center. I'll post pics soon! Today, husband went to get a hair cut and taken Elton, super dog, to get his nails cut. Elton has dew-claw issues because they weren't removed when he was a puppy. I cannot go to watch things like getting his nails cut because I freak out too easily. Once, he jumped off the table at the vet and was bleeding (he bit his lip). I FREAKED out pretty much...before I knew it was just a bit lip. Bad ordeal!

The Letter J

I saw this Letter Game on Tales of The Trees. She had fun answers so I thought I'd try it out! She assigned me the letter J. Here are 10 things I love that begin with the letter J.

1. Jesus - Gave his life for my life. I am very thankful in ways I can't describe or comprehend. Without Jesus, I'd be one lost soul. I love my Jesus!

2. Joy - I am full of joy. It isn't just "down in my heart" .....it is ALL in my heart! I am joyful for everything I have in this life. I can find joy in almost anything...(see 1.)

3. Journey - I'm embracing every part of this journey we call life. This journey has ups and downs but it would be dull without I suppose.  Three months ago, I entered my journey into trying to become a mommy. Two years ago, I entered my journey of being a housewife.

4. Jewelry - I love the jewelry from my husband and from my family. My husband gave me a pretty ring or two....okay, the best rings ever. My mom gives me something that belonged to her or my grandmother each Christmas and I love it! This past Christmas, I got my grandmother's big pearls.  I love most jewelry, really.

5. Journal - I use this blog as my journal. You have be honest with yourself before you can be honest with anyone else. I feel as though I have succeeded. Thank you for listening.

6. Job - I have a job in which I adore. I do something that I feel very strong and good about. I help senior citizens. They deserve much more than they typically get. I also get to do it in a way that I love....outside of an office!

7. January - This starts a new year every year. I was also born in the month of January. Each year I feel as though it's a fresh start and I'm exciting what is in store for the entire year. I try to pretend I don't get a year older.

8. July - My husband was born in July and he asked me to marry him in July. It is a hot month but has many special meanings and moments. I love that we celebrate Independence Day and how blissful it is to be just that...independent!

9. "Just Like Heaven" - I was trying to put music somewhere in here because I LOVE music. When I said the word "J" thinking about it the song "Just like Heaven" came to mind. The Cure sings is and I looooove it so! There is also a cute movie with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo called "Just Like Heaven".  Brent got it for me a few years ago.

10. Jingle - For those of you who do not know, my husband is a Karaoke Star. Yes, he is a really good singer. He is a performer as well. He REALLY gets into it. When he isn't on a stage with a microphone, he is in our living room, his car, his office, etc...making jingles. Several days out of the week he will come home and sing me something. It may be about me, our dog, the world, whatever holiday, etc. I love it and think it is so funny...talented! Jingle also makes me think of Jingle Bells and Christmas Jingles. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I wish it would last longer.

There you have it! If you want to play, let me know and I'll send you over a letter!!

xoxo - Megan

PS - Thank you girls for your sweet comments on my last post. Those pictures were a week before I got my first shot! 1 dowm and 5 to go! I do try to clean myself up because it does make me feel better though! I'm feeling okay just nauseated most the time and having terrible night issues!

Surprise @ Stokley

I wanted to post this because this was at a fun place and we had a great time! These are pictures from our friend Roy's 30th surprise party! It was on December 27th @ Stokley Event Center. My friend, Andra (Roy's wife), did a wonderful job of setting it all up! Roy and Brent grew up together. As mentioned, the party was at the Stokley Event Center.
