Hi everyone :) Monday has already come and gone. It is STILL rainy. It was rainy here all last week and I spent a rainy weekend in Arkansas. As I told you guys last week, my best friend's dad passed away. Hubby and I left Friday after lunch to go be with her. I appreciate all of the sweet comments you all left. I'm sure she is feeling all the prayers.
We arrived Friday afternoon and checked into our hotel. In the car, on the way to Arkansas, I realized I forgot to pack a tie for hubby. When we arrived to Little Rock, we dropped in a close by TJ Maxx to pick up a tie. He got a nice black BCBG one with a brown plaid. At our TJ Maxx here (in Oklahoma), there is a HUGE red section for all clothes OU. Well, the TJ Maxx we went into had a few Arkansas shirts. That was so very exciting because we never get to buy Arkansas "gear" anymore since we don't live in Arkansas. Hubby left TJM with two shirts and I left with two shirts. Mine were both from the little boys section. They are Nike and they were like $7.99 each. GREAT deal, yes. Yes, they are exactly the same except one is long sleeve and one is short sleeve. You must have options, right?
Allison was visiting with family so after TJ Maxx, hubby and I dropped into the Cracker Barrel....
Why Cracker Barrel? Well, my mom told me they have great "Arkansas goodies" :) I'm sure the Cracker Barrel where I live only has Oklahoma stuff so I've not bothered to go check out their goodie store. Mom was right. Cracker Barrel did have some fun & unique things!!
I picked up these salt and pepper shakers :) I have a thing for S & P shakers.

I also got these Christmas ornaments :) They are our first Razorback ornaments! I LOVE CHRISTMAS!
This is the shirt hubby got at Cracker Barrel.
Needless to say, we are ALL set on Arkansas goodies. Though I'm sure I would snatch something if I thought it were cute!
After Cracker Barrel, hubby and I met Allison and her boyfriend, Kyle, for dinner. We ate at the always delicious Texas Roadhouse. It was so nice to have dinner with her. I had been yearning to see her for 3 days. Conversation was good yet heartbreaking. Dinner was yum. After dinner, hubby and I headed to the hotel and tried to get to bed early.
Saturday morning, Katie drove in and met hubby and I at our hotel. From there, we grabbed a snack at McDonald's and headed to the visitation. It took place an hour before the funeral. Allison, as I've mentioned before, became my best friend in 2nd grade. Her brother (Marshall), is two years older than we are. I also think of him as a brother. I was SO thankful to see all the family & friends that surrounded them with love. I know it was an extremely hard day for them. I lost it several times and I just can't imagine the heaviness in their heart. Hubby and I were just glad to be there for them. There were probably 40 people we went to high school with also there to support them. It was a beautiful service and Marshall and Allison's dad is now in a beautiful, safe place.
There was a reception at Allison's uncle's house. Very nice of him to have us. Later in the evening, Marshall and Allison decided they wanted to get out for a bit. A large group of their friends joined them for dinner at a sushi restaurant. We had a really nice time. It was nice to see some smiles that I know didn't exist for many days. Here are a few pics I snapped....

We went to a bar called "Big Whiskey"...I found this art on the ceiling.
A quote on some glass...
There are no words for this...but the picture cracks me up.
Hubby & Kyle
Sunday, hubby and I went to lunch at one of our favorite pizza places with Natalie & Blake. By the way, Natalie is one of my besties that now lives in Jackson Hole, WY. I was pretty sad to leave Allison. I really would have liked to stay with her for a few days(weeks). I talked to both her and Marshall before I left. I think they know I'll do anything for them day or night, rain or shine. It rained on us ALL weekend long in Little Rock. It also rained hard all the way home. I have super bad anxiety while riding/driving in a rainy car. I constantly asked hubby if he could see the road as he was driving. He always replied with "yes honey"... I know Allison and Marshall are encountering the greatest storm thus far and I know God will pull them through it.
I hope you all had a good weekend and a decent Monday. Mondays can only be decent, right? We had more gloom and rain. I think it's going to last most the week. At least it is cooling off though. I am so ready for cool weather.
More soon :)

Those are some great finds at Cracker Barrel! I got some Christmas items there too (last month)! I am always on the lookout for Christmas stuff because I LOVE Christmas, too!
It's so sweet what you guys did for your friend! And taking her and her boyfriend out of that heavy emotional place was a good thing to help them keep sanity !
Oh and i like the S&P shakers!
Happy Tuesday!
I love Cracker Barrel! I bet they had some cute stuff! I love the s&p shakers you got. I think you are a great friend to be there for your friend when she needs you the most. It looked like a great weekend despite the painful cause.
I love that salt and pepper shaker! so cute!
So glad you got to spend some time with your friends, though it was under sad circumstances. And I love all that Arkansas stuff!!! :)
I love the little salt & pepper shakers - so cute! How wonderful that ya'll could help take your friend's mind off her loss for a little while - that's probably exactly what she needed...
Sorry to hear about your friends/your loss. Even though I dont know much about arkansas football... I know how college gear can always make you happy!
I'm glad you were able to be there for your friend. And Cracker Barrell is F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S GIRL. don't play!
the weather has been just the same here... i know we need the rain but it sure has a way of dampening my mood too!! you are a really good friend... you should be very proud of yourself to have been there for her. it's the best gift that we can give each other. and even better, we know that her dad is in an amazing place and she will meet him again one day!
Great pictures!! Love the salt and pepper shakers too!
Cute salt and pepper shakers! I've never been to a Cracker Barrel:-) Hope your friend is doing alright...
Cute new AR gear!
i know this is really weird possibly even creepy. i live in little rock and have been reading your blog for a little while now and i always think its funny when you mention arkansas. i am sorry about your friends dad. it was so weird i know her boyfriend, well i used to know him, hes younger than me and his sister was in my sisters class growing up. anyway his name is Kyle, right? just wanted to let you know there are arkansas people out here reading and saying GO HOGS! great salt and pepper shakers by the way! come check out my blog!
I'm glad you were able to go to Arkansas and spend time with your friend during this hard time. I'm sure she was glad to have you there. All of that Arkansas stuff is so cute! Love those salt and pepper shakers.
This post makes me miss Arkansas! And, I LOVE Cracker Barrel! I still want to drive the hour and a half to the closest one in Vegas. I love the store they have there. I got a bunch of cute sock monkey ornaments from there b/c my hubby loves them a few years ago. I miss my family & friends in Arkansas :(
I agree with all of the other comments. That is really special that you were able to be there for your friend.
Also, those salt and pepper shakers are too cute!
I'm a major fan of the barrel! I love that place!
So sweet of you guys to spend some special time with your friends, I'm sure they appreciated it so much! great pics and love the salt and pepper shakers, so cute!
I just have to let you know you are not alone with the anxiety while being in a car in the rain. I almost cannot drive at all when it's raining. Even if my hubby is driving, I sometimes have to shut my eyes or go to sleep (on longer trips). If not, I'm tense and gripping onto the door and seat.. LOL!
I have those same salt & pepper shakers..except Gators..GO GATORS!!
I'm so sad for your friend... :(
So glad you could be there for your friend. I'm sure it meant the world to her.
And I also have a love for salt and pepper shakers! I can't pass them up!!
For such a sad weekend, I'm so happy you could find some bit of joy and simple pleasures. Those AR salt and pepper shakers are just too adorable, btw!
It's always a bummer when you "get" to see your friends because of unfortunate circumstances.
I am happy to see someone else is a Hog lover!! I'm from AR myself!
I'm so glad you were able to be there for Allison! My mom was here for a funeral and I just hated that I couldn't be there for her.
